Meant to post this a couple of weeks ago just to see if it amused anyone else. A conversation between some boy racers, overheard by oldskoolcortina at work; 'I got overtaken by a baby sh*t beige Metro in town yesterday' 'what, really, in your Saxo?' 'Yeah, on the fire station straight. It's in the car park today, do you know whose it is?' 'No idea' 'I can't make it out, I'm sure it was making dump valve noises!' 'Nah!' Had to leave at that point, laughing too hard ;D

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

lol i don't remember that, i don't even take any notice of the saxos anymore! its fun playing with the audis and other assorted luxobarges on the way to college tho! Going to kill myself oneday but i just cant resist waiting till they are about to pull out from a couple of cars behind and then nailing it. I'm sure they must be quicker but they never make it passed

Although I didn't hear any conversation in regards to it, I was taunted and gave in (I know I shouldn't have and normally I don't.) to a E36 320i, the guy came and rev'd up beside me, cruised beside me, dropped gears and surged etc, I laughed comically so that his passengers could see I was amused and the next time he went to go for it, I let him know it was on like Donkey Kong, I stomped the loud pedal (it is quite loud too) and eventually slammed third, looked in my rear view and he was about 4 car lengths back still nailing it. Having proved my point I pulled off and he screamed past me at a horrific rate of knots. All too late really though I'm sure his friends gave him a bit of a ribbing.

I was heading cross town one night some years ago in Em's old Ford Ka (bog stock, on steelies with povo plastic dinnerplate wheel trims & all). I think I was picking her uip from a wroks do or something. Anyway theres a section of town down by the broadmarsh where the boyracers all like to go play.
So I pull up at these traffic lights. Along side pulls a white Metro of mid 1980s vintage with 3 yoofs and a couple of beeatches in it. Its got a bodykit which looks to be nailed on, wide arches and stock alloys. Nice. They are playing that godawful sheeyte that they like to listen to on their mobile phones on speaker, you kow the stuff, and TBH the stereo in the Metro is about as quality as a phone on speaker. So I just turn up the (stock fit) radio in the Ka and ignore them. Anyway, Metro boy is revving up and all that and flickin his neons into different colours. The light goes amber and he's off with a pityful squeak from his front tyre. The light goes green and I pull away - quickly but not "ricer-racer". Anyway by the end of 1st gear I'm alongside him, so in 2nd I boot it for a laugh and leave him standing. I can hear valvebounce and the thing screaming its nuts off but I have 5 car lengths on him by the next lights.
Repeat, but with a sounder drubbing this time.
Next lights he won't look across at me. LOL.

i was visiting Snetterton a few years ago with the missus in my Renault Laguna (yeah i know embarrasing enough in itself). pulled out of there behind a clapped out old rusty mini and was considering overtaking it when the guy booted it and it just took off into the distance suitably embarrasing me in the process God knows what was in it but it certainly wasn't stock

i get more pleasure in when sitting at lights and get some tw@t revving at me, in revving in return and making it look like i will race him, then when the lights go green, let them storm off and me pootle off and turn left or something.

That's fantastic! I've not had the joy of coming alongside something that's turned out to be something really unexpected yet In a similar style - pulled out behind a red Nova (was actually quite well done, I thought - barring some ghey stickers & ridiculous exhaust) that was obviously driven by a total berk. He kept weaving, checking his mirrors, doing his hair, wheelspinning from any starts, diving straight over roundabouts and so on. Now this was the middle of the day so there was some traffic around so however fast he drove, I always ended up behind him again, at the next set of lights and so on. He hares off again, trying to get ahead (bear in mind I'm averaging about 25 through town, not interested in this at all, just cruising and he's speeding everywhere) and lo, next set of lights I'm behind him again. I cheekily waved to him and blipped the throttle and he gave me the finger, floored it and hared into a side street.......... .........which was a one-way road and he drove straight into a Mondeo. Muha!
