More disappointment, I thought we were in for full on Grupdate Sorry to disappoint. If you were living my life right now, we may have found you in the garage with a rope around your neck dangling. This $#!7 will come right, we all respond differently to life's little challenges. Jammer meneer, not being negative, just kidding.

Right, something I do not think I have ever done before........ Requesting charitable support......Or sponsorship, call it what you like. I volunteered recently to do a 20km bicycle ride for a charity that our company supports every year on the 1st of July 2017 The charity looks after children with very limited life expectancy, so quite an emotive appeal for those who have healthy kids and not lost any kids. I cannot even imagine the pain. This year it takes the shape of a day which includes a "Try-Athlon" with the emphasis on the try-ing With teams of one, two or three doing the run, swim and cycle legs. I have not cycled in pretty much 20 years, and have put in a few 10km rides the last two weeks. So here is the thing........ I WILL NOT BE WEARING ANY LYCRA I WILL BE WEARING MY CARGO SHORTS AND T-SHIRT PLUS HELMET AND SOME GLOVES, ALONG WITH TRAINERS. The bike I ride was off Freecycle. My ask of any of you who read my thread updates and find pleasure from it, but also feel that these charities deserve some support, is to please contribute "A Dollar, A Dime, A Penny or a Pound, or as much as you feel you want to. I think every Dollar or Pound makes a difference. Only contribute if you feel you can afford it, and also see the good in what these charities do supporting families or communities. If you want to contribute, as I said, any money, be it a Penny or a Pound, a Dollar or a Dime or a handful of cash, please mention that you are contributing on behalf of me, Rian Kemp as there is a single "Just Giving" account that funnels it all to a central account. PLEASE CLICK ON THIS LINK TO SEE MORE ABOUT "TOGETHER FOR SHORT LIVES" (you can navigate for more information) www.justgiving.com/fundraising/GeneralMedicineTriathlon2017Here is a screenshot of my current training route and times. And the way I will be rolling on my Freecycle bike. Except not in flipflops. Thank you in advance for any support anyone chooses to give. I look forward to making a small difference.

Never nice with break ups when pets are involved... Still hopefully things will be ok in the end.. However this still raises the question.... you ever going to sort that truck out! This also reminds me I really need to make the effort to come and visit, maybe some fellow trucker motivation is what you need? I'm more than happy to help out with some truck jobs and get dirty

I'm more than happy to help out with some truck jobs and get dirty Thanks for the reply Matt. As always, my home is always open to visits. And agreed with all your points above. And again I went to the USA impulsively this year, to go see mate Dennis for his 60th birthday. Road Trip Report here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/199863/grizzs-2017-road-small-updatesSo today this was my view...... Leaving the farm. Headed back after my shopping trip, and being very sensible with it, I realised that this is an amazing piece of brutal engineering. I could never exploit more than a third of its potential. But the grin on my face in the dark cockpit of this car started to hurt after the first hour of driving it. Did you note the fuel prices in the photo above. Possibly some of the higest that had been seen here in many years. Today was also the 11th of September, a somber day in Americas history, and Dennis' birthday. I had seen someone's gateway when we went to the auction, and as always, clocked it and stashed it in my memory for another day. Today. Thank you Adam for letting me use this incredible car, freely.

Karma is an awesome mistress. Last week I got a PM via the Chevy Truck Forum from a New Zealander, who lives and works in Australia but was somewhere in Europe travelling with his partner in a camper van for the last six months. He needed a recommendation on a non franchised garage to carry out some maintenance including new shocks all round on their camper van. So we went to mobile Whatsapp chat mode. I found and shared some garages but it seemed that everyone is booked quite solid. So they decided to come to England, then fly to Iceland for a week on Friday and get the van sorted once back here. I offered them my home as a stop over to use as a base while regrouping and doing London touristy stuff. I think they were a bit surprised but I managed to convince them to stay ove a few days. Of course lots of car and truck was spoken and we spent some time in my garage too. Arron's dad is a mechanic in NZ so it was a good time. The cats both loved them and having the company and Caroline got herself a cat fix. As always it was great, like when the McMurphy's were here, to have company in the house and being able to spend time with like minded people. They previously did 42 states in the USA over 8 months and covered 24000 miles on that trip. So had this on my drive for a few days while they slept in a real bed. Arron's Chevy thats in storage in Australia at the moment. Link to his Build: 67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=590143It seems winter is here. When I work in my office ( I work from home ) in winter the small oil heater keeps the chill at bay. I had a personal wager not to turn the heating on till end October. Made it to 6 November though winter has not yet gone bitter cold. What is funny though is that both cats often do a double decker in my office to be near the heat. Of course this is more like what they like...... toasty How I found Dukey, next to his latest hairball. Bleughh. Friday today means weekend, unless I get a call out to work in London tomorrow.

The nomance came to a quiet end in October. Katy is a lovely woman, but I am not the right guy for her or vice versa. I am hoping to have my life back on track again.

I guess it had to happen some time....... We all respond differently to life’s challenges. Thank you all fo the support and patience while I dragged my butt on the Chevy truck resto by doing all sorts of other stuff and observing life around me. Many of you have been willing me on to get back to the truck, but it has its own schedule. So here is a clue. Can you guess what it is yet?? Yup....... Time to start back on the truck. Bodywork and welding. Lots of welding. Bought the welder direct from Rally Design and collected it from mate Neil in Faversham last night. Thanks mate. Looking forward to getting the wire and dialling it in, then starting the cut, weld, grind boogie. Unpacked it in the lounge earlier, remember who pays the mortgage..... it’s a lovely machine. Can do both MiG and arc or stick welding.. While I was with Neil and looking at his car www.rodsnsods.co.uk/forum/garage/bit-bit-503826He asked if I was interested in buying a Snap On toolbox. Considering my tools have lived here the last two years........ The answer had to be yes please. So tonight after work I took Prozac and headed down to Neil's place again, cash in hand, After cleaning up the toolbox for me, we had to carry it between and over two Mercedes Benz’s And into the back of this amazing little van. Back at home...... Next up will be cleaning it up, cleaning the tools and packing the lot up. And then..... Truck time, inbetween living life as we know it. In the mean time the six baby birds keep growing. Thanks for checking in.

Rian - You have gone the sensible route with the Mig has in the fact that it is invertor based rather than transformer based - never heard of the brand 'Blackline' and it looks like a copy of the more expensive branded professional models in the market - you get stepless control of the voltage that you weld at and will not take long for you to get to grips with it - looking forward to the restoration recommencing !

Thank you Chris, Neil also said it makes you look good Great news buddy. Long life to it and you! Thanks mate. Forgot to add in Neil’s Valiant last night. Unpacked and modified my new welder tonight. Extendable cable. Fitted a large heavy duty earth clamp too Still need to get some pipe for the gas bottle and a fitting for the regulator. Just where the old fitting and pipe goes in. And lastly tonight, a few shots again.

Got home late from London as the new improved train schedules have added 30 minutes to my commute. Service sucks big time. But got the regulator sorted and some pipe for the gas. Then decided to make a small skateboard based trolley and brace for the welder and gas bottle after fitting the roll of wire etc. Some bits added together. Skateboard £1.00 at Bootfair. Welded the gas bottle brace up. Other side. Get the idea? Assembled. Functional. Parked away. Next up some welding and fine tuning it all. Thanks for stopping by.
