It looked as you had been beach coming and found an old part of a boat. HaHa It could be, knowing me.... probably. What?? There's going to be progress on the C10??? (not that I don't enjoy reading about your other projects too). Yes, there is progress, in as much as that the carport is part of the progress, and changing things around the garage.

So remember the cab lifter. It has spent a lot of time outside, degenerating, and in fact, on my drive the one end fell off completely. So how do you fix wood? With welding, it’s always easy to melt more metal back into a hole. So I dismantled both ends and filled the holes with thin dowels I had cut from some scrap wood. Then drove new, 45mm longer screws into the holes. Then painted it all up once reassembled. Done. And of course waiting...... truck.

Love these old yank trucks, are you carrying out a restoration or something more custom?
Whichever route you decide, look forward to seeing the progress !

Stuff like breaking down walls, building them 500mm back, casting huge 1 cubic meter post foundations etc, plus getting the carport up, will add to it all. Like a tree falling over in slow motion. It will happen.

Hi mate, LOVE YOUR BUILD, You are a brave man. This is certainly a milld custom. Motor was rebuilt by Paul Y and I four years ago, at the time I bought and fitted a slightly naughty, lumpy cam, but in retrospect I should have gone all out. Dual exhausts, going 3 inch front to back loud boxes and 3” cutouts up front should do it too. The suspension is lowered, and various upgrades including new tramp rod, bushes, brake lines etc are already fitted. Loads left to do, a lot of swearing, sweating and head scratching to come, but thats all good. I bought the paint already for two tone, including a red that is redder than what was on there, now I really want sea foam green. Can’t wait to let Paul do a burnout for me to film outside my house. People may hate me.

I second going all out on it, she deserves it! She will sound beautiful with that set up.. All those mods sound awesome and moreso for what you have planned ! Mild custom is way to go with this one. As for people hating, don't even worry about it. More healthy doing burnouts then being stuck inside being brainwashed by that commodity called television. Looking forward to seeing progress !

My brother in SA sent me this today. Sounds of my youth. Looks like a red C10 to me.

Just adding this in for the record. Went looking for some free materials for the carport today. Found this on the scrap pile, cup holder for the bench seat, and a locking cubby that still has the keys, unused. Weirdly, another cat involved in the day, similar to Harley, she is constantly up on the lathes, and milling machines in the shop, much to darrens dad’s dismay.

Been a while. Lucky the truck is patient and loyal. Loads happening, nothing related to the C10 though. And it may be a while still. However, after my back really screwing my life up for a year and stopping all progress on all projects, it seems to be on the mend very slowly. It will not heal in the conventional way, but with a bit of clever use of planning, leverage etc, it is allowing me to do some stuff. The Rezin Rockit, GoKart and a few other things are all awaiting their turn. As is usual here, my first stop when restarting my life, is to take stock of stuff. So a clear up and clear out was in order. The scooter I got from Craig in 2019 found a new name on its V5c when I gave that away. Followed by clearing out two pallets of breeze blocks, given to mate Neil. Amazing how fast stuff moves when you give it away. So on Tuesday Neil came with his Transit van and his 13 year old grandson, to whom I had offered the Italjet Scooter. Harley had thought it over and decided he would rather build a car for when he is 17 which is a wise move. So the scooter went onto FB Marketplace and was gone, collected and ownership changed in less than an hour. We loaded all the blocks in. As far as it could go, so Harley and I carried the blocks through, and Neil packed them, his back is also knackered. Nearly 150 of them. I tried to make him take some more stuff but he declined mHarley took a very good office chair that was surplus for his own bedroom. Walking around looking at the C10 and other stuff, Neil asked what next, so I said a new pair of fenders needed to be bought and imported…… He looked at the old ones, blasted and primed and said that if I got some patch panels, he would give them a go at repairing. Of course I had the panels and rear supports for years. So as a “Trade” he took the fenders away and will be welding them up for me. Pretty good result, even though not planned at all. Next job was clearing more of the alleyway in order to build some storage space for all the lumber in the carport. .

Wow. I used to follow this thread years back when I used to be a regular on here. Not signed in and had a proper read for ages though. Great to see you've still got the truck although it looks like there's still plenty to keep you busy. I remember reading about your escapades abroad with your mate with a couple of fruity trucks. Oh, and your visits to the rather lovely waitress too! Not sure what you've done in between but have spotted mention of back issues. Hope you're recovering well. I spy a massive car port now too!
