hi its been a bit since my last update i now have almost all the mechanical work completed on the car with the electrics just completed with the building of my new dash cluster , the electrics being an electrical engineer i thought would of been simple in a time sense they took me a bit longer than i expected the original set up on these is only 2 fuses ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) one perm live the other switched from ignition . i have gone for a 12 way fuse set up allot safer i think and have now mounted the battery into the boot , also allot of thought about keeping the positive earth system with a dynamo and going for neg earth with a alternator but i have retained its original spec only thing if i fit a stereo it will need insulated from the cars body ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) . i have managed to get two new tyres for the wolfrace wheels gone for a lower profile and wider tyre 165/60/r12 after a few more jobs are just finished off i can start my 1300gt engine strip down mostly to clean it out for now fit new gaskets ect its been sitting for 25yrs but lucky it had new clean oil fitted . ![](http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r644/austinmorris1300/april2014003_zps3bc8ae08.jpg) ![](http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r644/austinmorris1300/april2014boot_zpsc630300c.jpg) /albums/r644 ![](http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r644/austinmorris1300/13etmarch2014003_zps1eba2a97.jpg) /austinmorris1300/13etmarch2014012_zps5f168340.jpg[/IMG]

Bit of a shadow lurker here, but had to respond to this. Loving this build so much, and I'll be taking notes for when my 1100 gets recommissioned (hopefully soon). Really hoping you will go for the hydro ditch as I WILL be copying. I don't think the ride was bad at all. I ragged mine all over and the side to side roll wasn't all that bad because of it being separate left to right systems. Got hilarious on lumpy roads up in the Peak District though. I just want more performance handling but didn't have a chance to look before she was taken off the road. Nice job on the front brakes. I will be going for Metro shafts, hubs, and 4 pots as the engine will be swapped out. Your description for the final look made me laugh as you described mine. (hope the pic works).

I am just about to join the AD016 Rebuild club.
I have a 1966 Mk1 Riley Kestrel 1100 that as rotton as yours was !! Its one of the first batche of Kestrels ever built so worth saving.
The other one is a 1968 Early Mk2 1300 Riley Kestrel with only 23000 miles on the clock. Need a complete respray. Had to do a lot of searching for parts and all the chrome was sotolen some time back when the previous owner had it in bits..
My Other Car is a Vauxhall Chevette 1256 Hatcback ( with a sting to it ) thats a road goer.
Regards Mark

this is great. bookmarked... And great welding/ painting. I really miss my Wolseley 1300 gt. It had a whole bunch of mini cooper type mods to it like lightened flywheel ,racing gearbox, gas flowed head, racing distributor, Hif6 carb tube manifold and an LCB exhaust. It was probably only about 90HP but was quick. On the outside it looked like an old grandad car with the little wolseley light in the grill. The exhaust was the only way you could tell. Wooden dash with the vanden plas trims and leather seats. I loved the hydrolastic suspension too it was fairly bouncy front to back but rock solid side to side so great round corners and smooth as silk over the bumps. I let it sit fairly hard and not too pumped up with fluid and then it wasnt too bouncy. The trouble was the brakes were easy to cook and the wheel hub nuts used to undo themselves if you booted it about. I blew the engine on it in the end and even after the rebuild it wasnt quite the same. I had a rain guard over the distributor and coil as the A series engines often stop dead in the wet. Great stuff fella keep it up.

my first experience of a "fast" car was a 4 door 1300 running a 1430 with 1 3/4 metro carb and 285 cam, seemed like a rocket in around 1987 ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) owned by my mates older brother
