Hot Rod magazine actually had a project Honduh of their own only a couple of years back. "Project HFO". I think it was actually badged as an Acura. It was kinda like a Prelude crossed with an Accord. Not a model we get here anyway. They got a lot of stick over it, especially when they dropped like $500 on a single exhaust header and got like 2 BHP from that.... Most of the other mods were similar. $800+ on a set of cams which made +6 BHP...
OK, the Honda lump was proabably not far off its optimal street spec when it left the factory whereas a '84 Chrysler 318 (for example!!) needs all the aftermarket help it can get so big gains are possible from smaller spend.
I liked it, they got a lot of very positive letters in their mag about it - especially from the good ol' boys - seemed to be younger readers writing the "Honduh project must die" vitriol in. But once finished it was quickly sold off and disappeared without a trace.
I think a subsequent editior has "appologised" for featuring it...
Meh.
I don't read Hot Rod for Hondas but if it has the odd one in I like I'm not going to go freakout too much LOL.
Max Power can do something right if its reflecting diversity adn covering a mainstream. I don't think chavheads with their bolloxed up hatchbacks are the mainstream now. I'm not sure what is, so long as it isn't "lets review the new BMW 116" it can't be too bad, can it?

I'm going to put my blinkers back on now and sit in a dark room.

I really can't wait to see what Johnnys artile on rat cars will come out as and what sort of reaction it will get from the usual MP plebs. Quite looking forward to whatever issue it might be in.

Didn't know 'Banzai' featured retro stuff! ...approx two years ago I got the impression that it was only into stuff that was under 10 year old! Personally what ever the magazine including 'sad'n'sour' (- Max power) I think diversity is the name of the game - like this place ...room for all sorts and styles. Personally I like ALL 'enthusiast' vehicles (be it an Austin Seven or a Nissan Skyline) ...and the end of the day they are ALL someones pride and joy which have many hours of care and enthusiasm lavished upon them.

Total vaux has been of the 'stick some RimZ, a bodykit and ICE in and you're in the mag'. It used to be a really quality mag but went downhill fast, stopped reading it two years ago now, and the covers aren't giving me any hope either.

I think Total Vaux have struggled to indentify their readership. I think the magazine sector has really suffered from over diversity in the past few years and many have had to try and please a wide range of readers. TV featured my mates Mk1 Astra and he did enquire if it would be on the cover, he was told grey cars simply wont make it there as it doesn't give them the impact on the shelves, in fact it seems quite a few mags will feature a very lary car in each issue just to get it on the cover and stand out at the newsagents. I think it's a bit of a shame to read the more blinkered views on this thread, this doesn't seem to be the normal RR attitude. I think it's great Max Power are covering the scene and we need to accept that the style of modifications they are covering are not exclusive to RR, this is the way the whole scene is changing.
