I've had loads of great dailys!
Polo G40 - 70 miles a day for 2 years!
Audi 100 Avant Quattro Oettinger 2.5 - 16mpg is you nursed it
Mk2 Gold GTD with a modified pump and custom cut rover 200 boost pin! I put over 50K on this in 3 years with an average of about 46mpg - until the bottom of the boot floor fell out!.

Just remembered - some dude round the back of Earls Court has this five-point-oh as a daily - see him driving around in it most days. This guy?

My daily currently. 3.9l V8 sat on 750-16s with a 2" lift, it handles like well actually it doesn't handle at all, the noise makes your ears bleed. But go anywhere it will Oh and nobody wants to overtake which is interesting lol

Some days you just need to take a grinder to an inanimate object, just to make your day a tiny bit better!!

That Monte Carlo is just awesome, always loved the way the look ever since I saw the blue one in Herbie when I was a kid! I've driven this, my first car, as my daily for the past 3 years since I started driving. It is rough around the edges and starting to get pretty tired in most aspects - that and the 30-35mpg I'm getting from it is making me consider getting something a bit different and more economical as a daily and keeping this as a project/fun car. Oh and I also know that smug feeling driving it in rain and snow and winter So many others lock their classics up for hibernation, only to ever see a dry summers day, no fun there Especially in snow!

I come out of work and my mood is lifted. Because across the empty carpark I spot this... I then realize that it's mine and I'm in a great mood for the rest of the day. If you've never dailied something silly, I really recommend it.

The above comment is so true, I love walking out into the works car park, two Bentley flying spurs and a rolls Royce phantom and a g55 Amg, looking over and seeing my daily! Makes me laugh and puts me in a fantastic mood!! My current daily is this!! No starter motor so only parks on hills My last daily was this And my daily before that was my gtd rabbit I miss this rabbit so so much!

Not really used daily in that I usually walk to work, but it's my only car and gets driven at least twice a week, in any conditions: Last winter, I put it in my parents' garage and took a Twingo instead. Upon awakening, the car felt moody. The brakes were sticky, and it generally felt neglected and I swore this was never to happen again. So this winter I went skiing with the car, drove it to Sweden, I drive it to work when it's raining too much, I go to Lidl with it... The best thing is that a good weekly pressure wash meant that rustwise, it hasn't actually got any worse! Snow was fun, especially when you see Clio estates stuck in the snow and you trundle past in what they think is a POS

Retro dailies is what life's all about I think if you've got a car that's special to you, use it. As I drive to work, screaming up the motorway at over 4k RPM, wind noise whistling away, cursing my single speed wipers while it's only lightly drizzling it can seen a chore to have a classic daily, but then other mornings the suns shining, the radios playing a good song, theres a couple of nice corners with no traffic and regardless of being on the way to work I couldn't be happier. I also totally agree with Speedy88, there's something wonderful about catching sight of your retro car in a car park full of bland modernity and thinking 'ooh that's a nice car' followed by 'ooh thats my car' I did 18 months and 25,000 miles of daily driving in my rx7. And I've now done 5 months and 7,000 miles in the Lancia, here she is out in the salt and snow looking a bit sorry for herself with no grill as I was repairing it.

Around 20years ago a mate of mine owned a car parts shop with a little lockup at the rear. Now one weekend after his wife found out that he had been playing away, she sold his monte carlo for £50,his snap on tool chest for a £10 and every other thing in the lockup. To say he was gutted is an understatement, and she wouldn't say who she sold it to.

Due to a slight problem with the sensible daily, this has become my daily for the past three weeks: I'm loving it and despite a non-functioning overdrive limiting my cruising speed somewhat I am still somewhat dragging my heels with fixing the modern.

My current whip. I almost gave up on older stuff, and bought a modern. Though I'm sure to many on here this IS a modern. I don't care, it's 24 years old, adding 200+ miles a week to the 180,000 it's already done and returning 53mpg. All the time remaining smooth, fairly (it DOES have an XUD dizzler in it, after all) quiet and insanely comfortable. And all for £350. Sometimes I even clean it. I really should start a Reader's Rides thread for it at some stage. ;D

Well, since the weather has been nice it had been a rotation of '60 Lincoln/'88 M5/'54 Ford..
However the M5 has a hot start problem that I need to track down, the Lincoln has a blown head gasket and the 54 Ford has no AC although that's being fixed this summer once I swap engines.
So it's been the XF a lot lately... but I had the Ford out today.. and I've ordered the head gaskets for the Lincoln, that should be fun.. the intake manifold alone weighs 60lbs and the heads close to 100lbs each!
