Like the title says, I'm trying to buy a race car to enter the Classic Touring Car's pre-93/83/73 season staring in April. But there's none around at the moment. I just missed out on a nice Sierra Cosworth. Anyway, being stuck at an airport (Singapore - land of the incredibly clean car) again I thought I'd post up a few pics of some cars that I've come across and prices. Charlie Fiat Cinquecento spaceframe, 4.2k Porsche 356 (Ebay US) $31k (OOOOF!) Camaro 302ci $40k BMW E30 (lots of these around - afforable and eligible for Production BMW class 5.5k Ford Falcon (expensive!) BMW 3.0 CSL Batmobile (also expensive!) Cheap Sapphire Cossie 5.5k Winning Renault 5 2.5k (bargain!) Nissan 240 (Silvia?) 20k! Cute BMW 2002 25k

There was a post up on Turbosport about some english guys that had bought a couple of well prepared and very very nice escorts from South Africa, they have a lot of Early escorts and cortinas etc race prepared out there and the prices are very sensible...... Dry and rot free as well Pound strong against the Rand too ;D Its where I would be looking TBH ;D

To be eligible for group B rallying, Nissan had to produce 250 of these in full rally spec ( think peugeot 205 and T16.) These were marketed as 240RS. And the Kit is factory supplied, but the colours are not works rally colours, but a similar scheme. The car is question is a geniune 240RS, just not in factory colours. At £20K, its well priced, proper cars in full works colours etc have changed hands in excess of US100K

Charlie Not sure there is, however, what you need to do is find some SA tuners, and contact them. Landline phone calls from a BT line to SA is around 1p/min if you use www.niftylist.co.uk then chat to them to find leads, then follow it up. Try www.frostbrothers.co.za or .com they specialise in finding stuff and exporting worldwide, will also do the admin at a price. My feeling had always been that they made themselves good money, so beware.

Charlie Pound Rand equation ridiculously good atm. Don't buy from Cape Town - wet climate, sea air, salt etc = not a rot free as you'de want. Ditto Durban, buy from around Jo'burg. Then hire a car and road trip down to Cape Town via the coastal route! Knysna George etc. Did this in an old LAndie when I lived in CT - joyous. In direct contravention of all common sense picked up every hitch hiker going and met some of teh weirdest people evar!
