Simple rule for this thread, post a simple, to the point, motoring related fact. A related cool car photo to follow the fact would be good too. No chat would be preferable ;D Here we go: A trabant engine has 5 moving parts.

the underpinnings of daewoo lanos produced up to 2002, was based on the mk2 astra floor pan and suspension, which in itself has origins dating back to the 1979 opel kadett D.

to avoid potential weaknesses, the cylinder head, barrels and blocks on 2cv engines have no gaskets, just finely machined and toleranced lap joints

A DAF 44 can reach its top speed of 76mph in forwards or reverse, and in holland where they do reverse racing a whole new class had to be made for the DAFs to make it fair on the competition

Michelin and Pirelli claim that the tyres on a Bentley Conti GT are safe for 60 minutes of top speed driving (between 155 - 199mph) but the fuel tank will run dry after forty minutes at 155mph (4.7mpg in a 90 litre tank) so to test the claims of longevity you would have to refuel the car from the air. Conti GTs are quite boring so I was struggling with a decent pic until I found this...

early watercooled vw's are fitted with recaro seats as standard. even my poverty spec mk2 polo has them, except that the labels are inside the seat rather than on the outside.

The cast iron left hand exhaust of the 2CV has a boss for a water heat exchanger. The existing fuel pump was used to circulate water for a factory LPG conversion.

The BMW E28 was the fastest Diesel saloon car in the world and BMW also made an ECO petrol version E28 called the 525E with a heavily modified 2.7 engine.

Aston Martin's Straight 6 was designed by a Polish chap by the name of Tadeusz "Tadek" Marek who went on to design the Lagonda V8 engine as well:

Audi means "to listen" in Latin. The story of the name is that august Horch, the founder of Horch cars was force out of his firm and barred from calling any new firm Horch. August and his new buisness friends were having a meeting at August's house to decide the new name. also there was August's son, doing his latin homework. The son interrupted the meeting by blurting out "Audiatur!" This has the same meaning in Latin (to hear) as Horch does in Bavarian. The name was shortened to Audi. The original Audi logo... does the font seem familiar.... The four ring logo is from the Auto-Union of Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. The four firms are now owned by VW.

Myron Scott, at the time Chevrolet's Chief photographer, is credited with coming up with the Corvette name, drawing from the small, fast warships of the "Corvette" class. A modern Corvette: and a modern Corvette:

The Ferrari Daytona isn't actually called Daytona. Its official name is Ferrari 365 GTB/4; the 'Daytona' name was applied by the media, supposedly to commemorate Ferrari's 1-2-3 win at the 1967 Daytona 24hrs with the 330P4. 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona 1 by Jack_Snell, on Flickr
