in the late 1980s land rover had a development project called "Terry" which was in aid to improve reliability for 2.5 MOD engines
the mk2 range rover designated "P38" was named after the building that housed its development team in solihull
the working title for what became the freelander was CB40, for the same reason as above

the swage line on the c-pillars on mk2 golfs are different on each side, one is pretty much the same profile front to back, the other side fades to virtually nothing, they were hand done on the clay model which the moulds were taken from, and never standardised... I had to google that too. Was about to call bull, but by gum I think you're right... Fade Solid I got to know quite a lot about them from working at Heritage/BBT, plus I've owned a 'couple' I'm pretty sure they're actually slightly longer on one side than the other, which is why if you actually bolt the rear beam on completely 'square' to the car, they drive like

At the time of its' release, the MK1 Fiat Panda 4x4 had the fastest 0-30mph time of any production car. This was discovered by a motoring journalist who redlined the car and dropped the clutch in 3rd gear!

The number in the Shelby GT350 and GT500 didn’t refer to BHP or cubic inches. The number 350 came from an argument over what to call the model which had been ordered by Hertz for the ‘rent-a-racer’ programme in ’66. Apparently Shelby stepped out of a meeting over the name to get some air and the guy from Ford followed him outside. Shelby said to him “how far do you reckon it is to the next building on the street?” and the guy replied “about 350 feet”. Shelby said “ok then, we’ll call the car the GT350”. The GT500 was called that ‘because they needed a bigger number!’

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

The propellant from any aerosol can will start most stubborn engines. I've proved this buy using deoderant, furniture polish and even fly killer before to get a car started. Much to the amusement of onlookers.

The first Saab 99 body shell was badged "daihatsu" as that name could be made up out of letters available for other Saab models.

Did you know (I didn't) that the ford GT90 concept-car has the underpinnings of the first rolling prototype of the Jag XJ220, which was used for crash testing?
