This is the newest addition to the fleet, we bought it (me and 3 members of the FSO UK OC) to save it from being ovaled. It's right at the back of the list although we have made some headway with it. It needed a battery, an ignition switch and some work on the points but even on stale petrol eventually fired up. The gearbox will have to come off and be fixed or replaced. It already has a historic "repair" that was welded and snapped again. The clutch is a no go as are the brakes. All 4 calipers have been removed pending renovation. There was no point fixing the clutch due to the problems with the box. Other than giving it a wash and a pair of door handles it hasn't much changed in 2 months.

What would you change the box to/with, if the current one is beyond repair? Have you ever thought about an automatic FSO 125p?

Never crossed my mind no!
The 125P will if possible be getting a replacement 4 speed box from Poland. We have considered putting a 5 speed in it but I''d like to keep this as close to original as possible. For now.

I have this in mind as a next project and even the maddest of my mad friends think I'm mad, saying it's parts only. I will make up my mind when I see it. Yes the front end has nearly rotted off, no I don't expect much to be left of the floor, sills or anything. But there's always a chance it might be savable.

Rare breed now! I had a 125P too, same colour.
Used to keep sucking curse word into the carb, so would only move with your foot planted on the throttle. Became adept at whipping the top of the carb off at the side of the road [usually hard shoulder of the M3] to blast out the bowl with carb cleaner and clean the jets.
Also went through an amazing amount of starter motors. I think the location next to the manifold loved cooking them.
Finally died when, in a rush, I opened the drivers door into the path of a cement truck...

I found for the first few months of driving my Polonez it was always sucking curse word into the carb. I had the jets out most weeks but since having the carb. rebuilt it has been alright.

I served my apprenticeship at an F.S.O dealer in Mitcham, many happy memories & unbelievable stories about them arriving from the factory with pistons missing, etc!!! I think that I have a factory workshop manual knocking around somewhere if you're interested?

"lets leave a piston out, see how long its takes to diagnose the misfire!" ;D Always love these old eastern block motors, be good to see when done!

I have always loved the FSO125P a very underated car and noe becoming a classic, not many left, id have another in a heart beat. I love the style of them its just a shame FSO never got proper funding.
