Is anyone on here into film photography? I have just picked up my first SLR, a Canon T70, for the princely sum of €40,40 posted with 3 lenses, 3 filters a Canon 277T Speedlite flash and a tele-converter all boxed and in perfect condition. Canon T70 by Bowling Racecar Driver, on Flickr I went out yesterday and used a roll of film just practicing and playing with the different lenses, I just have to wait until tomorrow to pick up the CD with the results. I can't wait! So as said is anyone here into film photography? Can anyone offer hints and tips? Rob

I bought and sold quite a few Cannon's last year, it's just the waiting for your results I don't like anymore. This is one I took with an SLR

I'll have to post my collection. Have at least 10 slrs, and loads of rangefinders, medium format cameras, bellows cameras.. All sorts. It's very addictive. One of my favourites is the Minolta 9000af from 1985, I have the aw-90 autowind motor and motorised zoom hammerhead flash and 3 lenses and its by far the nicest to use for general photography. If you ever see one, grab it. Wonderful bit of kit.

Sadly photobucket doesn't seem to be working with RR at the moment (I am sure the problem is photobucket and not us!) My girlfriends dad is the person who got me into film photography and he has around 10 cameras including a T50, T90 and a 1971 Zenit-e. It is amazing how cheap these cameras are now.

I have long played around with film cameras. My main camera is an Olympus OM-20 with which I use 24mm and 50mm prime lenses (due to impending emigration I will actually be selling these - please PM me if you're interested). RR fans will like this one: imageshack.us/a/img821/3328/003vb.jpgmonster image, sorry I also like to buy older film cameras from car boot sales and modify them to accept 35mm film. Like so: Taken with a 1920s Ensign box camera Double-exposure with a 1950s Kodak Brownie I have also built a few pinhole cameras, including a pinhole-polaroid which is great fun. No scans, though.

I've got probably 10 Box Brownies ranging from 1930's to 1960's. Few other "old" cameras as well. My main film camera is an Olympus OM10 (with manual adapter) I bought new. In the loft is a full, boxed, Patterson colour darkroom setup. I first played with developing in early 1960's with Brownie 126 film as the negatives were large enough to do contact prints (in windowsill) at primary school. Haven't used a film camera in years since discovering digital (got Olympus DSLR as well as "point & shoot" digitals). If you take film pics consider developing & printing as good fun. Used equipment can be got often free or for very little cost as it's now cheaper to have them professional developed so people don't bother nay more but the satisfaction of DIY is worth the small extra expense.

Love the old Zenits; I had an E and a B, both of them great cameras. The Helios-44 lens has a nice 'swirly' effect around the edges (presumably because it's not a very good lens). This photo shows it well (not my image)

I have a very vintage Zorki 1 rangefinder, I love the results. Its just real faff to take a picture, first you have to take a light meter reading as its not built in, then adjust the aperature using a finger nail, then the shutter speed, but you must of cocked it before turning the dial else it snaps the mechanism. Then you can frame your shot using the viewfinder, then move your eye to adjust the focus on the rangefinder, then back to the viewfinder and finally take the shot. Oh and the viewfinder only shows more image than the film see's, hence most of my shots being awkwardly cropped! Love it though, plus its heavy enough to kill a man...

I got my disc with my first attempts on today. I am rather chuffed with them, there are a few blurry ones but overall rather good. Here is a pick of my favourites. I love a bit of film photography, in fact a large part of my job is based around it! www.adrianbrannan.comor www.facebook.com/AdrianBrannan.PhotoCollagesHundreds of film based prints used to make up cityscape collages..... That one was part of an advertising commission for Lonely Planet, and went on to appear as billboards in the Tube ;D

Your shots are class in a glass, ABCP. I need to bother you about those motion shots actually - I'm looking at buying a ball head mount attachment so I can take shots of a car from another. Anyway - yes - film photography. I'm quite into that. For some reason I have 117 35mm cameras left after a massive cull. I need to get this down some more. I utterly fail at rangefinder work, though. I have a couple of FEDs (1 and 2), along with a Carl Zeiss Werra, a Zorki 11 and a Yashica Lynx 14. The latter is beloved by everyone, but I can't get on with it. I know if I let it go, I won't get another for anything approaching decent money. For some inexplicable reason I have four Olympus FTLs. They were produced for eight months in 1971 before the OM-1 turned up, allegedly by a competitor. The OM was behind schedule and Olympus needed something - anything - new to sell in the interim. It was the only M42 body Olympus made. As it was a bit of a runt in the scheme of things, I love them dearly and have made it a bit of a mission to collect all of the lenses and accessories made. If anyone knows where I can get an FTL 28 and 200mm lens, I'd be very grateful. Anyway, my top tip is to purchase some Lucky 100 film. It's a bit of a sod to have developed, because it doesn't use the C-41 processing method. Nevertheless, pair it with an FTL and a 50mm f/1.4 lens, and you end up with this: I am tempted to learn developing so I can cut down on the wait, and buy all of the Lucky 100 stock I can find out. I'm fortunate [ha ha] that I live so near to the Real Camera Company in Manchester, who bulk bought most of the stock Lucky's UK supplier had when the parent firm went to the wall. My first FTL had some body leaks but I still got the odd nice shot from it. I'm going to offload the pile of Zenits I have pretty soon, so I can concentrate on assembling the ultimate FTL collection, as well as getting my lovely Nikon F3 running. I keep fiddling with M42 lenses, too. My everyday DSLR is a Nikon D60. I can't afford anything better, to be honest. Running M42 lenses on Nikons isn't ideal because of the flange focal distance. You can't get infinity focus. That hasn't stopped me getting some great shots with the comically small Industar-50 though. Jesus. What a long post!
