I really want to go and play in the Mini but I've been told in no uncertain terms that it isn't going to happen. 2CV is too shiny and the handbrake works on the wrong end for entertainment! Surely this is a chance for the Ultimate Tramp Drift as even the FWD cars can get in on the act! 2CV's have the handbrake on the front wheels then? I never knew that, learn something new everday Is there any particular reason why it's on the front wheels or just Citroen quirkiness? Probably because it was easier - no mechanism having to go all the way to the rear wheels. The front brakes are inboard also - trying to rig up a mechanical handbrake to wheels with such axle articulation could be a pain. The BX and Xantia also have front handbrakes although on these it makes sense as when the cars go up/down, the rear wheels will move a little. Back to snow - loving the GTM sculpture!

Sadly I couldn't get me bum out into the snow until some meltage had gone on, plus the local kids had helped themselves to some of it to hurl at each other.

God I love Snow! Turns me into a big kid. Here's what greeted me this morning: ...and when I arrived at University: Much fun was had doing reverse handbrake turns on an empty bit of the uni car park I did of course also have to drive through every single bit of untouched snow on the entire site

It amazes me how things grind to a halt down south when there's any snow. Up here in Aberdeen, anything less than 4 inches and pretty much nothing changes. People are used to it and just get on with things. ok you get clowns that can't drive binning their cars becuase they are driving too fast, its always fun spotting holes in walls just after bends in the roads, the poor farmers must get really hacked off. Last year i put some Avon winter tyres on the BMW 530, don't get me wrong, it wasn't 4x4 style grip but I was able to go anywhere i wanted within reason including out of my flat's sloped carpark in 6 inches of virgin snow. It was a laugh watching people pointing at me expecting me to get stuck but the old girl just kept going. Of course the V8 was capable of howling the rear tubes at any time a bit of fun was needed. If you are struggling for grip, low revs and light throttle are the name of the game. Remember to let a few psi out of your tyres too for some extra traction. This is what i had outside this morning, blast i thought, i forgot to change the wheels over to my spare set with m+s tyres: good job i bought this yesterday: a neighbour was stuck in his driveway, how i laughed as i burbled past ;D .......doing 12mpg

Here's a work car park shot, unfortunately with my car de snowed (e30 in the middle). Note the skyline with the suspect paint job and the toyota in the front row! Good idea about the tyre psi, I shamefully admit that I went to an empty car park near my house and got my e30 in a pickle...

When I had my old E30 325i i used to run with the rear tyres at about 15-18 psi and keep a heavy tool box and two holdalls of old car mags in the boot. that helped a lot.
Seriously though, winter tyres are so much better, the difference is unbelievable. they perform better in the cold too. I wouldn't go through winter without them now.

Well, I maged to get a couple of "retro-only" shots of the cars before most of it fell off or was removed for snowball manufacture. Sun-tor, wakes up, opens an eye and thinks, "Brrrrr, not going out camping in this weather!"

Talking of snow.....check this out....seen so many near-misses today, this one takes the biscuit though. Abysmal quality, but stay with it, you just cant believe how stupid some people are. And talking of stupid.......this one's just lame, and very funny

The first video is a combination of scary, funny and stupid. Every now and then another idiot comes flying through the arch and does it all over again.
The second video had me laughing out loud! What were the thinking...they could have just towed it onto the clear bit! ;D

When I had my old E30 325i I used to run with the rear tyres at about 15-18 psiquote] I had resigned myself to riding my push bike into work in the freeeezing cold but I tried lowering the psi. 15PSI- much better, no luck still. 8PSI- with a bit of struggle I managed to shift it!

We got quite a bit in Coventry yesterday, but foolishly against the advice of the met office, I decided to head west to Shrewsbury today to strip my carina at Joncedrics - the M56 on the way back was rather slippy!
