Hello I've hanging around on here for a while, but now I have got something worthy of a thread Finished my mk1 golf a few weeks back so it was time for a new project, I've always liked old Japenesse metal and especially with my mate in work showing pictures of Skakotan cars it got me thinking! Anyways this car came up on Piston heads the other day close by so went and had a look , owner was a real nice bloke who had onwned it for about 9 years and had just had is sat in the garage and played about with it now and again but never really got it done, so a few days later I turned up with a trailer and it was mine ;D Back in the workshop ready for the work to begin, Got quite excited about it all and took a few days off work to get on with finishing off the welding that the previous owner had started years ago on the new floor pans, been on it all weekend and every night last week and the welding should be finished tonight, Then its my favorite part trying to get it alot closer to the road ;D

Pretty good compaired to some i have looked at in the past its got some patches here and there, floors and frame rails were the worst, previous owner had started the floors so been finishing them off and i made some new frame rails as no one sells them over here, could do with a sill as the one someone put on in the past is shocking, but I'm just gonna do whats needed so i can drive it this summer then take it off the road next winter and strip it back to the bare shell, Plans are to build something Skakotan'ish, I've got ZG arches and some steels that i'm gonna band then make some coilovers for it and camber plates and have some fun in it you havent got any bits lying around have you ?

Sounds good. Underneath of mine is like a patchwork quilt! Think Mike at MJP sells sills over here, if you don't already know of him (though he gets a lot of his stuff from MSA in the states so whether he actually keeps any in stock I don't know): www.mjpshop.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=155_32The purists will hate you. I will love it though. I'd do the same if I had the money and / or skill. Only got mine in December so nope, don't really have anything of worth in the way of bits I'm afraid. Most of the stuff I've needed I've ended up getting from people on eBay in the states.

bit more done tonight, fender flares turned up and my steels today, so a bit of a mock up and some measurements to see how much to band them by fronts rekon I can get away with a 9J maybe 10J rears I'm thinking 10J or 11J, I've got some other archs coming for the back that are another inch wider. tried on my woodrim to splines are just out need to order a adapter Oh and I fixed the gloove box light to, another job off the list ;D

yep civic/integra ones, got know idea what the spring rates are but i can change them easy enough, theres a rally shop down the road.
All i really needed was the ali adjuster part its got a 2' bore so will slide over the struts, I was going to make them myself ( i work in a CNC machine shop) but in the end it works out less than the material to buy them off eBay? I still cant work out how they can make them that cheap ?
I still need to make the ring to weld on the strut that they rest on though , and I'm still deciding if I'm going to section my struts and use mk1 golf inserts.
Is the 140Y a simlar set up to the S30 ?

Cool I was hoping the Civic ones were 2" bore... this is what I was waiting for before ordering them :-) On my 140y ill be using 280ZX front struts with the coilover conversion as you are, along with the bigger ventes brakes. Big improvement on my little Datty ;D. Ill probably use something like mk1 or 2 Escort rear coilover shocks on the rear as I know they can be made to fit my car! Job done Before and after......... I may get my set of Civic springs ordered up then Ill be watching your thread with interest on this

Forgot I did do a bit on Friday night thou Sound deadning fitted, its amazing what a difference this stuff makes ! , only one bit takes all the drumming out of the floor panel. test fitted seats again and drilled holes for the monunting points heres the wiper arm assembly in the vice being un-Siezed with the help of some heat and a big load of WD40 this is where the wiper assembly and motor live under the schuttle panel, which i didnt have a look under when i brough the car, he said it was good andim glad he wasn't lying, i would want to be trying to weld in there ! Ordered up some more jute to go on the tunnel this morning and some proper carpet for the floor and boot area

Morning All Got to work and these were on my desk this morning one of my mates in work made them for me on earlys, These are the rings I need to weld onto the struts after cutting off the original spring cup to convert them to coilovers , Also had some time down the worshop last night and did some work on the interior Jute cut and glued to the centre tunnel. then a quick template and the red vinyl cut and test fitted in to place, started on the rear wheel arch but need to borrow a heat gun to get the vinyl stretchy enough. Had an email last night to say the steels are banded and should be back with me friday, Happy day's He said they look really smart and BIG! ha ha Hopefully I can get some tyres put on and start doing the coilovers this wekend
