Hi everyone, this is my new car. It was sat in a garage for 40 years until recently when the previous owner spent quite a lot of money restoring the bodywork and getting her running. Unfortunately, he wasn't very technically minded and it looks like he hasn't touched any of the mechanicals for a while! The interior is a bit shabby but I am working on it. I am going to go for a racing look, round circles with numbers on the doors, spots on the front, leather bonnet straps. I have bought some rostyles and am in the process of refurbishing them, they are a bit rusty! I am also going to lower her slightly. Anyway, to business, have some piccies;

I am going to leave the 1098 engine in for now but will probably upgrade to a 1275 in the future.

Cool. I have one the same. Mine is quite a bit worse body wise so I'm having to do some pretty major fabrication to get it solid again. I'm going for entirely period mods on mine too. I think it suits them. Rostyles look good on them... I had an A40 back when I was 18 that was initially on Rostyles. They're a bit of a mare to mask up for paint! I've gone for some Dunlop D1 replicas on my current one...

I've seen that thread already, some very cool cars in there! I meant to ask in the original post, does anyone know about period spotlights? What's the best make, etc. I want some round ones to go above the front bumper.

I love A40 Farina's. Such a funky little car and your plans sound spot on! Period racing look will work fantastically.

As an A35 owner my self slowly upgrading bits will be watching with interest on what you do. (Many shared parts between A30, A35, A40, MG Midget and Austin Healey Sprite.)

Back in the mid 80's my pals and I used to run Farina's as daily drives. You could find them all over the place for fifty quid and we had so much fun in them. ;D I watched one at Brands Hatch last year and it was all over a big old Ford through the twisty stuff. One of the original touring car racers! Defo another one for the collection when I win the lottery.

OVY871, my uncle and cousins drive A30s and A35s. Are you in the owner's club?
MIB BMW, I don't think I've ever seen another one in the flesh, before or since buying it. Not sure what happened to them all as there were quite a lot of them built.

Just got the engine back in my A40 after a rather dramatic loss of oil pressure in the late summer. It turned out that that rear end main cap had cracked in half - probably as a result of the oilway being drilled out at some stage in the past. Anyway, I now boast a 1330cc engine with reground crank, rebored and with new high compression pistons (11:1) to complement the stage III Cooper S head. Just charging the battery so hopefully it will start up tomorrow. All the engine work was done by Rob Walker of Witney (Oxon) who is an excellent guy although for obvious commercial reasons he favours his trade customers so not the quickest. There's a couple of engines on Ebay at the moment - one 1275 and one 1330...... Roger

As I have mentioned, the interior of this car is looking a little tired. Ignore the seats, as I have swapped these out for some from a '89 Mini, they are amazing! The front under-the-dash parcel shelf is a mess, it seems to be made out of cardboard and is sagging on one side, I am going to manufacture a new one out of hardboard. The window demisters are not working either, on one side the pipe has fallen off of the bit attached to the underside of the dash and on the other side the bit and the pipe has fallen off. I have procured a new dash top and will be sorting this out soon. I will get some pics of the interior how it stands at the moment when it is light enough!
