Does this have one of the "laid back" engines as oppossed to the later cam belted TU engine. I'm just curious to know if these early 205's have a gearbox in the sump like the older Pugs/Citroens with that engine.
Yeah this one is the early 1124cc carb set up as used in the 104 etc, known in the trade as the XW7. I think keeping it standard is the key, down to the pov spec gray bumpers.
Those wheels make total sense pogs, but I'm sure I have picture one wheels with 'speedline' on them. Which is wierd as fish.

I really like 205's - that one of yours looks really good, especially considering its age. Luckily the person that bought mine new specified a steering wheel and seat from the options list. To me, they don't feel solid at all and I'd hate to crash one!

I don't like to worry about crashing. If I did, I wouldn't have a fleet full of crumply cars!
205 feels like a tank compared to a Citroen AX!

I'm assuming this is what Padz means by pepperpots: Standard fit on 1.6GTi's (and 309SRi?) And this is what you mean by speedlines? As utilised on the 1.9GTI and 309GTi The first ones are the 1.6 alloys The second ones are the 1.9 alloys IIRC

It's a shame how some posts slip away without any replies. Just found this lonely thread, sulking on page 6. Right then, how about a standard restoration on the car? If it's in good shape it won't be difficult to do. It's 24 years old now, so definitely deserves some sort of preservation, standard or otherwise. I'm not sure how much of a following those things have though. Shouldn't be too difficult to sell when you get fed up with it as small cars are handy for new drivers. Mike Yeah! not felt inspired to look at the thread till now. When an RRer gets a new car i feel 1000% more inspired than just randomly comment about a model, so yeah cool. nice one an A reg 205 must of been preserved and loved so i agree with 425ci and querty and some others in keeping it original, its a classic believe it or not. Pogs spot on with his description too, I'd like to drive something unassuming yet quietly classic to work nd to the shop, happy in the knowledge that am saving money and happy enough to boot! restooration.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I believe that both styles of wheel were actually made by Speedline (to begin with anyway) but the 1.6 wheels became known as Pepperpots and the 1.9 as Speedlines. The 205 T16 actually had larger versions of the 1.6 wheel's.
Note could be Hogwash!

this is my wee 5dr 1.4 beastie it's been kept-off road for the past 5 years or so, my mate's dad bought it for him to learn to drive in, and then he gave it to me. since then I was planning on using it to strip and rebuilt the engine, as something for me to do and learn about the mechanics on. when I got it I replaced the pipes and hoses that run from from the rad to the heater matrix, (managed to snap the bit of plastic that clips the speedo cable into the instrument panel in the process) and gave it a fresh set of plugs and it ran like a dream. really smooth, suprisingly nippy and great handling (if a little on the soft side but that added to the fun lol). I went for a while starting it every couple of weeks to let it tick over and then keeping the brakes from seizing. but just before christmas we ran out of space on the drive so it's been relgated to my grandparents drive now and sat there being completely unloved might stick it in for mot once I sell my rx7 and use it as a run-around, think it will just need the speedo fixing and a couple of tyres, and should be good.

if its relatiely rot free - keep it standard . these are soo chavved up, you will get more respect for keeping it stock. if you need any bits give me a shout as I'm good buddies with the local peugeot sport official owners club rep. he has just bought another motor to add to his collection and needs the garage space.
by the check your springs, aparrantly they are prown to rotting and snapping on these.

Excellent feedback! I'll go through the car next weekend and check what needs doing. These cars still looks relatively modern and you do tend to see quite a few laters ones knocking around, but I never thought for a moment of ram raiding the halfrauds parts bin.

both the pepperpots and the speedlines were made by speedline, however not all the speedlines were made by speedline, some were french copies. eh?

My dad's breaking my old K-reg diesel 3dr (he wants the engine as a spare for his girlfriend's 205), dunno what parts are common between that and yours but there's a GTi steering wheel in it (great for the biceps on a diesel....), let me know if there's anything you want and I'll get him to save it before the shell meets its maker.

I'd personally steer clear of pepperpots (and i have a set on my car!) But every non-Gti 205 i've seen with them on looks wrong somehow, think its the slight flattening of the top the rear arch curve that spoils it. I'd go with the Rallye steels, in black and stick with it as it is, its a top looking little car, doesnt even need improvement!

But every non-Gti 205 i've seen with them on looks wrong somehow, GTi's have modified rear arches. 1.6 alloys fit straight on, speedlines need arch mods to fit. You can slap anything you want on the front though.
