lads i have some rims which one set are 5.5x13 & the other set are 6x13 the original tyre size for the car is 155 80 13 my car is rear wheel drive so i want to keep the tyre height the same on the rear so my speedo reads correct but i want to improve the looks i want to have the strethed look but not poke, my car is pretty slammed but i have lots of room in the arches i like the look of a bigger tyre in the back than the front whats the recommendations chaps, i've seen 165 65 13's on a 7" wide rim & they looked really schweet so as my rims are only 1" narrower i was thinking possibly 155 wide tyre on a 6" rim i don't know if there is a formula for this sorta thing? ?

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

If it doesn't need stretch don't do it will look curse word. What he said, if there's plenty of room in the arches then use it all up. Stretched tyres look good when they're used to fit wheels into the arch that wouldn't otherwise fit. If you're just fitting thin tyres and resulting in more arch gap it won't look right. If you like the stretched look maybe stretch them and space them so the lip's about flush with the arch, with the stretch giving you clearance for the suspension travel? I'm not so much a fan of poke either, but imo the arch and lip being directly above each other, with the stretch giving the clearance is a good look.

Try www.willtheyfit.com but I agree with the above, if you don't need stretch don't run any, you're just losing grip for no good reason.

On my 106 165/65R13 and 5J looks a bit balloony, 165/60R14 on 6J on the Micra looked quite square.

been doing some looking & thinking & i think ya right, i'm thinking 175 70 13 on the back & 175 50 13 on the front, i'll have to lower the front of my car a bit more for the tyre to sit nice in the arch on a 6" wide rim
the 175 70 will keep my speedo correct & fill the arches, enough & the i like a bit of rake so the 50 profile on the fronts should help hanfling by a faster turn in being lower/stiffer profile, what ya reckon?

IMO 165/65 on the front and 175/70 on the back would sit better. The difference between a 175/50 and a 175/70 is too big.

You'll struggle to get any stretch at all on a 6" rim, not even to mention a 5.5".
175 will sit square on a 6" rim, almost with a bulge depending on the tyre.
And as everybody else before me has stated, stretch look curse word on tucked wheels, and imho stretch on rims narrower than 8" looks very forced.

have to agree, needless stretch looks a bit silly, my banded steels with a bit of stretch suit my sierra way better than my Capri, shoulda fitted squarer tyres on the capri as there wasn't any poke to really need stretch, didnt look too odd as they sat fairly flush, but look much better on the saph as the rims themselves do poke

If it doesn't need stretch don't do it will look curse word. A million times this! Tyre stretch isn't something that in itself is fashionable or IMO in any way desirable, it's just a means of getting wide wheels on a car that they wouldn't otherwise fit without rubbing. If your wheels are only 5.5" or 6" wide just use tyres that fit. Your car will drive better for it.

i understand what poke is dez, i should have explained a bit better, obviously seths herald for intance is tucked as is my own car, poke is coming from the jdm stylee, trying to get a super wide rim but the tyre to still fall withing the arche to be coughcough legal what i meant to put was i'd like a bit of the rim to poke with my tyre fitted, its ok i'm a tard at times i'm finding it hard to describe in txt the look i'm after to be honest, i want to keep my car un-arched but i don't want to up the rim width as on my car it looks curse word, i have had 7" wide rims & it makes the car look like a roller skate! so a 6" rim with the offset i have will fill the arche enough but i'm after a nice square look to the tyre on the back & a slightly stretched look on the front as the track is narrow but it looks ok as the car is in the weeds & it aint a wanky vw!

Personally I think you should tuck your poke away and rake it all flush with some mexi camber stretch.
