Firsty i must appologise as not all retro content, and the shonky photos, i don't have a scanner. (disclaimer over) Sorry if this subject has been posted B4 but i,ve been away for a couple of weeks. If it hasn't let me introduce you to Donking, no not the boxing promotor, but the ruination of some nice old hacks. Saw this mag in a newsagents and couldn't resist. Am i totally missing something here or is this a wind up cos some of them look like they may well be PS'ed. Check the (sorry) modernish 95 Chevy Caprice on 30's , yes thats right 30's that should really only be on Hummers and the like. So what do you guys of style and taste reckon? These look like massive Saab 900 turbo rims to me What good taste, those carazy Yanks! 30's!!

To be fair, cars can't get much lower so they were bound to go the other way in the end!
Just wait until you get Citroen C2s where the driver is at the same height as one in a Rangie. That'll annoy those who love lording it above everyone else! (Er, not aimed at any Rangie owners on here!)

If you look at the cover I think it says that Chevy Caprice is on 30" rims....
EDIT: ok, i'm 2nd to mention that. Where the hell would you get the tyres?

yeah you used to get these round the circuit in folkestone high street on a friday night. take a 1.2 nova, 17" alloys and you got a DONK, or back in the day they called them Land Nova's.

Donkalicious! Imagine rollin' over those speed bumps effortlessly as everyone else had to scrape their sumps out or go psssting back up to normal height.

When these were first posted on RR, my instant reaction was something along the lines of "WTF?! Ludicrous!!" Buuuuut, just as RR has indoctrinated me into the wonders of J-tin, Bosozouku, Euro-look and all manner of other bizarre niches of the modified car scene, so it has with Donks, Boxes and Bubbles. I can't say that I'd ever want my cars to look like that, but they now raise a smile from me rather than a grimace. Excellent stuff

Love 'em, but bizarrely they're more commonly known over there as 'Deep South' style cars... It's all good whatever the label, I like the 'tongue in cheek' feel/approach over the whole 'gangsta' thing... ;D
