Ridiculous! Whats the point in doing that? Obviously alot of money spent, surely they could have used it in a better way??? I guess thel never get wheelclamped.
Each to their own I guess.

First time I saw a donk, I smiled, and though "oh what silly things people use money on". The second time, I didnt have a opinion about it.. The third time I didnt like it. 4th time now I have been on the subject, and now I bloody hate the things... Low and wide is the way to go, in my opinion

"Louisiana Tractors"
The problem isn't just the brakes but the hubs. The rotational inertia of those huge heavy rims is way beyond what the factory spec'd for and there have been cases reported in some of the American mags of hubs failing and wheels coming off.
They look stupid.
My understanding of the terms is that a Donk is a 60s/early 70s body shape, a box is a 70s/early 80s body and a bubble is a late 80s/90s body style.
I saw a couple of these in the US when I was there last. Without wishing to stereotype they were in the ownership of just the sort of people you'd expect to be driving one...

Donk, Boxes and Bubble is a US mag, prob not avaiable over here. Found copies in Sweden when I was over there in the New Year.
Its quite unusual for 'donks' to run hydros, they normally just use body and suspension lifts.
For the anally retarded of you, Donk only refers to a 70's car, Box to an 80's, and bubble to a 90's. It all to do with the Chevy Caprice/Impala shapes of those decades, but the terms have migrated over to other marques/models of the corresponding years!

I don't personally like them that much, but they do a good job on em, money no object, clearly! I also heard that they were also called Donks, as a generic term, referring to the "Donkey cart" wheels...
I can imagine people back in the day saying "what the hell is the point in lowering your car to the ground and putting those tiny, ugly, wide wheels on?" – but slamming a ride is an accepted part of car culture these days, I guess this is another niche that people will hope will catch on accordingly. And there are always people wanting to try something new - can't fault em for that!
Still not too keen on em though!

Atleast a lowered car will hopefully handle a little better, imagine how bad to drive these are?

Here is the mag's website, which gives a perfectly clear and lucid explanation of how it all came about.... Where do they get those 30" rimz? They rent them of course!!

I saw wheel rental places in the US. I'm sure I've seen at least one over here.

Before Christmas I spent a week out in the south Miami ghettos featuring about 10 of the best Boxes, Donks and Bubbles out there. The features will be in forthcoming editions of the revised Max Power magazine. I got to drive a 'Box' (80s Chevy Caprice classic) on 26"s and it was weird. Like an elephant on stilettos. These cars look even madder in the metal, especially on the highway. I'm a lowrider at heart, but i did a naughty thing on eBay the other night and might just have the ideal base for the UK's first Box project. Watch this space.....

MP has had a couple of attempts at making itself something better than the Chav trash is had become. Problem is I think readership falls off when they try make it into a "proper" car mag so they go back to doing what sells.

Oooohh 64impala, that sounds exciting! so you write for MP? I have said I have noticed either the typically 'mod-mods'(c) boy racer type lads mags seemed to be getting better before. thought it was just me Redline is pretty good, and leafing content of MP and Fast car these seem to be getting better too, maybe its cos the stuff we look at/chat about its filtering into new/current trends: US muscle, euro lokers, sleepers, imports etc as Body kits and neons are out anyway my reason for post? before christmas I got an hotwheels Donk from Asda well cool need to snap it for ya's but heres one off google for now...
