5 years?! Wow. It really is a great car. I'm glad you sold it because I wouldn't have it otherwise  I've nearly got everything I need for a full resto now. Been scouring the internet for over 2 years looking for parts. Made some friends all over the world  I should hopefully be getting a pair of very special nos rear lights from Brazil Just looking for a good condition rear bumper... So hard to find Santana bumpers!!!! I bought a Santana lx with 44k as a donor. Unfortunately the body work is far too gone  It has good bits on it though. The gx5 is on 165kish and rising daily. I have found a new old stock front bumper, grill and headlights. New dash and headliner too! Unfortunately my mk1 broke so that takes priority this winter but once it's fixed, the Santana get a full respray in the original diamond silver. I've also line up a company to make some very special custom suspension for it. I have an original set of wheels lined up and a nice set of rare 15x7 bbs Mahles. It should look spot on when finished. Just need to be patient and do a good job. |

thanks guys. 3mm spacer on the front to clear the calipers and that's it quite lucky really. I didn't think they would fit?!! I bought some nos foglights for the Santana. I'll fit them properly once the car is resprayed what do you recon? I have a set of clear ones too. Quite like the yellow tints though  |

I'm sure I saw this Santana at ultimate dubs parked in asda carpark this year, I had never seen one before so went to have a look around it, you're right on the not so many classics inside Dubs its just too far to go now to look at "financed" cars (air, wheels and not much else) last year there was a lovely Porsche 356 which should have been inside the show instead of one of the beemers. Ooh great pics! Thanks for digging those out yeah that was my Santana in asda carpark well spotted!! maybe one day it might be good enough to get a spot inside that show? Haha. Probably not I just can't afford to go as crazy with this one as I have with the golf. Just body work, wheels, suspension and eventually sort the interior. Standard engine etc, just serviced and kept running smoothly I think. I tried on two different types of wheels on it today. Makes me want a full set of the original snowflakes!! |

Well a little update on the golf. I pulled the engine out an stripped it down to see if there was anything wrong internally after the breakdown last year. Just as I feared, bent valves So, off to the man in the shed for some special treatment and big valves It'll be better than ever once it's done! |
