Hello Everyone,
My name is Rich and this is not really a build thread but just some pics from over the years.
I've been meaning to do this for a while now.
I apologize about the quality of some of the pics. I don't have a very good camera
I bought my first car when I was 17.
A 1980 VW golf driver
According to the VW birth certificate, my golf was made on the 12th of July and left the factory on the 15th as a VW golf 'S'.
I believe this means it is one of the last S1's made as they changed to S2 in August 1980.
It left the factory with 13jx5.5 steel wheels and tweed upholstery.
It was first registered in the uk in october 1980 as a VW golf driver, 1272cc, 4 speed manual, 3 door, 14x6 RG 'TYPE CLAY' alloy wheels(i still have these).
I am the 9th registered owner.
It was a gti look a like with all the trim.
I put chrome bits on it straight away(i still have all the original trim just incase I decide to change it all back)
I have so many pics because I take some each time I change something.
this is one of the earliest digital pics I have;
I have swapped wheels many times;
porsche d90s
the original wheels from the show room
g60 steels
bbs mahles
black porsche d90s
mirror polished porsche wintercults
silver porsche wintercults
Over the years, many things have gone wrong with it but i've stuck with it and now it is very close to being finished.
here is the current spec;
1980 golf driver 3dr
1.9 g60 engine with loads of porting/polishing/lightening and balancing work done
stage 4 G lader supercharger
Quaife lsd
wilwood 4 pot brakes, 22mm rallye master cylinder and 9 inch servo
coilovers
eibach anti roll bars
rolled and lightly flared arches and loads of body work done including a full respray.
loads of custom carbon fibre bits that I made at work.
some of my carbon fibre work;
just a couple of my favorite pics of my golf and then I'll get on two my other cars;
ok no more! I have too many pictures of my golf.

So my 2nd car I bought when the golf was off the road having the engine swap. it really is a great car and I fell in love with it on the journey home from buying it
it is a;
1984 VW Santana GX5 fuel injection.
it has the 2.0ltr 5 cylinder audi engine and an auto gearbox.
electric front and rear windows
central locking and an automatic areal.
many people have told me this is the last remaining one of these with this particular spec left in the country.
here are some pics;
I haven't done much with this at the moment as I use it as my daily. just swapped the wheels for the bbs mahles;
the plans for this one this winter are to give the engine a good service and getting it running like new
respray in silver and getting rid of all rust(although it is not bad at the moment)
possibly re trim the interior to just tidy it up like new
I'm thinking air suspension because the suspension is too harsh at the moment but I love how it looks when it is low.
it doesn't need much tlc to get it to the standard I'm happy with. some one has looked after this car very well in the past.
my most recent car is my passat;
A 1985 VW Passat cl estate
it has a 1.8 8v petrol carb engine. 4+e manual gearbox.
I got this by chance. I was in mcdonalds having driven in the santana when a chap came running over to me asking about it. after a nice chat he offered me his old passat for next to nothing.
I couldn't refuse as I have driven past this guys house in the past just to look at the car. yes, I'm that sad.
I really can't wait to fix this one up. I think it looks awesome! anyway
some pics;
santana and passat
at home;
thanks for looking.
updates soon.
