"If you're gonna drift, you may as well do it properly!" Says JonOvlov from a drift trike attached to the back of my V8 series 2 Land Rover!! Drifting... by Diabolu80, on Flickr

Best Sunday EVAR! Weather courtesy of BrianDamaged, trike courtesy of BiAS, Land Rover tow vehicle courtesy of Diabolu, camera and video footage courtesy of JonOvlov, Corbs, TheSam & Diabolu, camera car courtesy of Pickmeup.... ...drift trike victims: KevFromWales, Rtlkyubbi, RobinXR4i, Speedy88 and not forgetting JonOvlov. My feeble footage captured while driving the Land Rover: Stir in a load of truly great friends after a weekend at Area 52 and you've got the recipe for something truly unforgettable. Sat here grinning at what an amazing weekend that was. It's times like this I want a rewind button for real life.

Thanks for the kind words, all that leaping about doing sun-dances for the few days leading up to this last weekend were not entirely in vain..... Not so much of an official Beach Party, more a run-of-the-mill (if such a thing exists) Area52 Play Weekend with a trip to Brean thrown in on the Sunday. A few people from Rust Rash Flyers and Bath Retro & Dub Club joined in the fun, about 35 cars spent the day in the sunshine (though thanks to a stiff breeze it WAS a bit on the chilly side) quaffing burgers, bench-racing and generally shooting the shnizzle for a few hours. More than a few positives came out of the day, firstly I'd like to thank everyone who donated cashmonies in the small collection that we made for Burnham Area Rescue Boat, which is the voluntary organisation dedicated to ensuring that those who get into trouble on Burnham/Brean/Berrow's beaches are rescued. Thanks to your donations I was able to forward £81.70 to their coffers last night via PayPal. Brilliant. In addition to that I had a conversation with Scotty from RRF who has generously offered to not only provide rubbish bins for the next 'official' Beach Party (details to follow in due course, mark March 24th 2013 in your diaries) but also to take them all away again afterwards and dispose of the litter contained therein. This resolved the main problem that Burnham Town Council had with the last proper Beach Party held in March when about 220 cars showed up. They then had to pay four guys overtime to clean up the mess that was unfortunately left behind afterwards. This was the reason why I decided against having yet another massive event in October. In late August, after a few emails/phone conversations between myself and a few others, we decided to have a small low-key get-together just to prove that we could get through a day on the sands without upsetting anyone. Yes there was a little bit of minor hoonage but certainly no more than they get on the average Sunday, and nowhere near the levels experienced at the last couple of official shows. The fact that we shared the beach with a group of local horseriders who made time for a look at some of the cars bears that one out. No pics from me, as I managed to get completely destroyed at A52 on Saturday night and was in no fit state to be wandering around with a camera. I will take the liberty of including a couple of pics from Facebook though... Courtesy of Rob Gray of Bath Retro & Dub ClubCourtesy of Rich SkuseCourtesy of Steve LaceyThanks once again from me to everyone who showed up. Point well and truly made. To the wider world of Retro-Rides, the Beach Party WILL be back in 2013. BD

If you do nothing else, please, please, please watch this video that the Incredible Corbs made. It's pretty amazing! Agreed! I was going to head over on Sunday as well, but ended up helping with de- engineing a Dolomite. Curses! Orange sandrail thing and Land Rover both look very, very at home on the beach. Nothing beats rattling around in a rooftop series Landy with a few good mates on board. Hopefully this has provided a good motivation boost to crack on with yours Bruce

I wasn't exactly on top form at all over weekend and had the baby with me on Sunday but it was brilliant to get to this. Renewed my enthusiasm a bit for cool old cars Also, I seem to have discovered a liking for pirate metal. I never knew such a thing existed ;D

Is there a photo album or thread for this beach party?! Some of those cars are looking particularly awesome! Sweet drifting as well, I would so love to have been on that trike!
