I picked up a pre pats loom and 'copy' ecu today from an escort 130.
Loom, Ecu, air flow meter, edis module- basically everything you need except for the HO manifold £100 plus £5 postage?

Yes was a manual. I'll plug it into my mates fiesta to make sure it's all working. Won't be able to do this till next weekend though if that's OK for you? I'll pm you when I get this done on Sat.

I have fitted a complete setup off another car today (ecu, loom, MAF, non pats) and it still has no spark and the injectors don't work. I have 12v at the centre wire on the coil when the ignition is on but that goes to nearly nothing on cranking? Is that right?

sounds like your power to loom isnt staying on when cranking , to test it put your lives on the battery and test it see if it starts,.

Nice one mrrodney it now runs. I will put a relay in to sort the wiring out. It runs perfect and revs clean so will sort the wiring and put the dash in the weekend and take it for a spin.

you gotta love a rodney lol , you have a switch live for coil/carb etc you can use for switch live , stays live while cranking , perm to battery , no relay needed for engine loom if you use that mate ,
the old engine loom unplugs from under passenger headlight , you can use that plug for switch live to keep it neat , thats how we did the red mk4 estate on here,.

Cheers Rodney I have used that wire and all is good. The wiring needs tidying up a bit but it will do for now till I have driven it properly. I also put the dash back in which looks the same as it did before.

I then had to re-arrange all the garage to get this out. I hadn't picked the bonnet up on the rs for over 6 months come to think of it the cover ain't been off the rs for that length of time either. When I finally got them changed round the exhaust on this mk4 needs an extra bracket so I only got to turn it round in the street and the exhaust is nearly on the floor. I will try and get it on a mates ramp later to sort it out.

I managed to get it over my mates pit to sort the exhaust. It was a struggle to get it over the pit due to the lows but seems to have done the trick. I am quite suprised at the performance increase although I wasn't going crazy in it. I also adjusted the gear linkage for a better feel on the gears. Only pics I took were Epic fail that I forgot to take pics over the pit.

Thanks. You geting another escort? I have got a few things to tidy up like the temp gauge needs wiring and the inlet needs painting to match the rocker. Also got some spot lamps for it but need to make some brackets. Don't think I will get any time on it this weekend due to the mrs blowing her c3 diesel up last week I need to go car hunting.

Done more on this than I thought I would in the last week, still not much though. Why is it that when you need a car for your mrs anything that is any good she don't want and anything she likes is scrap? First up I painted the inlet manifold. Not a concours job but better than it was. Next up was to make a start on the spotlight brackets. I am going for 2 up 2 down so needed something for the brackets to attach to. picture hostingThen put the bumper back on and you carn't see any difference apart from the change of number plate. Hopefully make a start on the actual brackets later. I also wired the temp gauge up but it don't work I think I need the cvh sender fitting. Thats all I have to show for a weekend and a couple of evenings due to the car searching and went for a blast on the bike with a couple of mates. image hosting flickr

Well I managed to get over my mates unit and make the spotlight brackets. I painted them in 2k black. I was going to get them powder coated but I want to go to a couple of meetings in the week so paint it was. Here they are bolted on. Then a few with the lamps fitted. Not everyones taste but always liked them myself and easily put back to not having them fitted. All I had to do to the car was enlarge 2 holes on the car so you would not know they had been there once removed.
