Think over the last 3-4 maybe even 5 years I've been going to a retro rides South Yorkshire meet there has been at least a handful of people giving a few beans when leaving an truth be known I enjoy it an its part of what keeps me going if you was to lose this small amount of showboating it would be a very dull meet if you look back on how much goes on o what used to go on you really har nothing to moan about its just part of what meets are about Is it worth being kicked out and having to find another venue? How do you think that looks to the pub management? And how it looks to the pubs ordinary customers? And your point about it being what meets are about, yeah it was, and now all the big meets and cruises are a rarity because they've either been shut down by police, or have a huge police presence. I'd hardly say there was as much asbo goings off as a cruise it was a decent meet with no trouble and a decent atmospher so best of praising that rather then finding the negatives to point out

It'll be a hell of a shame if showing off gets it shut down.

The problem is though, its the pub management and customers who are the ones complaining (as far as i understand), and yes i appreciate a bit of showboating will always go on at meets, but if we need to nip it in the bud to keep the current venue that i would rather the showboating be toned down rather than having to find yet another new venue within the space of a year

finally go to this meet after years of working monday evenings!!!
i was the tall lad with the black mk1 xr2, can i just say that although there was apparently some tomfoolery after i left i was very very happy with how it was. i have been doing club meets for years with varied groups and to be honest this was the most friendliest and coolest of all!!!!
some awesome cars, some cool people and a nice venue topped of by people actually coming and talking to me from the off, thats very rare these days as scenes and groups tend not to mingle outside their own, so a huge thankyou to those that came and said hello, cool car!
sadly i didnt take any pics but if i can get to more i hope to, especially the ghia next to me and the capri!!!!
cheers and thanks, chris

First one I have made for about 6 month, have to say the numbers were vast improved on what I remember and I thoroughly enjoyed the meet and the cars on show, I was in the bronze mk1 escort.
Anyway look forward to the next meet

Yes its a great little meet is this, Good variety of cars and mix of people.Would it be a idea to put a couple of sandwich style 'A' boards up at the entry/exit to mention about the do's and don'ts that are expected from people attending. Would be a real shame if it got stopped!!

Would be a real shame if it got stopped!! I like this idea, it just needs somebody to put their hand in their pocket to pay for it i suppose I will try to knock up some sort of flyer with do's and don'ts to stick under each windscreen wiper, at least that doesn't cost too much Any suggestions on Do's & Don'ts much appreciated

Well after thinking this over for the last month and considering my other obligations, I have decided to leave the RetroRides meet well enough alone! Hope you guys manage to find someone else to do your donkey work arranging a new location as the minority are going to make sure you will need that by this time next year!
I don't need the headache that is dealing with petulant children who never listen (aside the majority who are really pleasant people). I won't be attending any further meets nor will I be playing the role of organiser any more! Hope you guys have it together enough to not get kicked out of that venue as plenty of work went into getting it sorted!
Later all!

Well this has been a disappointing couple of conversations for me. Chompysnake took over organising the meet a few months ago after I had to move up north and could no longer be responsible for this meet. All was well with attendees and pub management, and the meet was good.
Unfortunately, due to recent events at the venue, the Landlord of Meadow Farm has requested that we no longer meet there.
THIS MEET HAS SHUT DOWN
The cause of this is a minority of people that have been misbehaving, not respecting the 'be grown ups' general rule of the meet and not respecting the venue. Their antics have drawn unwanted police attention and damaged the pub's trade where before them we were actually boosting the pub's trade.
It is incredibly disappointing not only that a small percentage of attendees should spoil it for the majority but that also the majority did not stand up to them to prevent a repeat of the previous venue's disaster. This reflects not only on the people attending, but on Retro Rides, the clubs attending and owners of modified cars as a whole.
DO NOT attend Meadow Farm on the next meet date, YOU WILL be turned away by the pub management.

What a shame. I was hoping to pop down to one of these at some point now I'm down on Teesside.
As is the case so often, the minority of dicks spoil it for the majority. The guys who leave their brains in neutral when they put their car in gear. Complete knobs. I hope those responsible think about this. I somehow doubt it.

I don't understand this at all I've attended almost all the meets at meadow farm and not seen any bad behaviour other than a few (very few) after leaving the car park giving it some on the road. Almost everyone who attends buys a drink and quite a few order food I know that there are a few empty glasses left out but then there are always quite a lot left outside on the tables anyway.

Sooo, are those that were saying that their 'little bit of fun' wasn't hurting anyone else, going to come back on here and apologise for what they were doing resulting in exactly what everyone else was saying would happen?
I suspect not....

I suspect not.... Will they curse word. Would you be up for a smaller scale thing on OC Phil? I've updated the thread there about maybe just having our own small scale regular meet?
