just bought a 1600 711M X'flow (fiesta spec) pics to follow  all for the tidy sum of £25 ;D |

Hey that sounds good, nice one! I reckon its a better base for tuning than the origional lump. It would be cool to have a highly tuned 1100 but in the end this 1600 is going to give more rewarding gains  |

got the head off a bit pitted but everything seems to move freely good excuse to have it ported and polished while its off  |

Well done for cracking straight on with it!! 300 retro points right there mister! Yep get busy with smoothing out those ports and getting it to flow to the max, should be a nice little power unit when your done!  |

ooooh might pop down machine mart, really need a welder too  plenty of bits available from the likes of burton power still not to sure what spec todo it, it will be getting ported and polished and since it came with no exhaust manifold it merswell at least get an ashley, no intake manifold or carb either.....good excuse for twin 45's me thinks ;D and theres not really much point fitting them without a cam ............this is gonna get expensive and i still need a starter motor, gear box (gonna try get an RST one for the LSD) and some XR brakes. ill have some fun with the 1.1 suspension to begin with also fitting pistons out a 1300 increases the bore to 1700 so if i can find some of them, you never know 120+ bhp and ill be chuffed |

£25? result! I'm making a stand/trolley for my essex, I don't trust any stand with a boat anchor like that on it  looks like christmas ford engine rebuilds are going to be common on here! LOL |

Attulay the 1300 pistons increse compression. using a +0.090" oversize gives you 1700cc.
You want a kent bcf3 cam as that will slot in without needing the pistons machined (lots of work), Get the 1300 pistons to up the compression but only go to the +90s if it attulay needs reboring, otherwise don't bother. The xr2 heads are basicly GT spec so a clean up of the ports is all you will need with that spec of cam. Twin 40s are a possibility but they can be a curse word as I'm sure you have heard!

Can you fit a DGAS on a X-flow or is it OTT??? I know they work on a Pinto....
