Watch out with the 1300 pistons though as they are a lot heavier than the 1600 pistons and lead to problems at high revs which is what the crossflow likes. eBay is good for heads, get the wildest one you can afford and put a similarly wild cam in, the crossflow loves head work and doesn't suffer much loss of torque as a result.
If the bottom end is alright I'd probably just leave it as it is and swap the head and cam. Depends on your budget really as machine work has become mighty expensive.

Good work dude. be interesting to see how complicated it is. BTW my dad still has my 1600 xflow fiesta engine available, he's fully aware of scrap value so offer some more and you'll also get a 1600 to play with, i think it still has g box but he couldnt remember.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You're gonna see a pretty decent hike in power anyway so leave the more complicated stuff for a future development

ive got a lynx manifold and weber DCOE straight off mine, should be 'thereabouts' jetted for that lump as its off a stgandard tune 711m 1600 are you selling that baby, my only concern is that it wont fit....... engine in the wrong way round, carb's will sit right up against the bulkhead, wonder if it would sit in the bonnet catch area if i took that plate off and just had the bonnet pinned down ;D

Those single DCOE manifolds are a nice compromise. I ran one on mine for a number of years. Sucks off a lot of the top end but you get the Weber sound and a bit better economy. My one was a Derrington manifold and crossed over so that 1&4 and 2&3 shared a carb barrel. Works best that way due to the firing order.

yeah, thats what the lynx does, then each barrel deals with the sucky bit equally. it makes a nice noise and I felt it a hell of an improvement over the DGAV I was running, 86bhp and 105lbft from my 1.6 with no other mods (before it was around 72 I think with no where near as much torque)

Not bad! I think I was getting about 120-125hp out of mine with the single 40 but that was a 1700 and had a stage 3 head and a Kent 244 cam
