ive been talking to my sisters new bf tonite and hes ot a sirrocco rotting away in his drive, he wants rid. He's told me that the clutch isnt working only has a tiny bit left) and that when the car is rev'd over 2000 it cuts out. I'm not sure if this is accurate as he doesnt know much about cars.
anyway, hes asked if i wanna come look at it and see if i'll take it off his hands.
just wondered about a price.
its a H reg,not mot or tax, dark blue, not sure about mileage. passenger footwell has a puddle in it and also has the above problems
is the clutch repair an engine out job on these, are they golf parts and can anyone give a guesstimate on what to offer, i was thinking 300 mark but ive no idea what they go for

scene tax hasn't caught up with the coupe yet. Shame, they're a cracking car when you get a goodun. Actually, it's not a shame, it means you can STILL get a bargain within the VW family

If it's only worth £50 then you really aren't taking the anything.
If he's one of these who reckons it's worth loadZ then that's his tough titties. Plenty more fish in the sea an all that.

I wouldnt take it on unless it was free and i really liked the colour.
To be honest, blue ones are reasonably rare, i don't know the codes, but apart from the light blue storms, there was a solid blue that ive only seen one of, a medium metalic blue and a dark metalic blue. There not as common as other colours.
Thing is, mk2's, as already mentioned just aint worth much unless mint. From your brief description its going to need a few hundred spent on it, and a fair bit of work. Its best of just buying a driver to start with.
I'd offer to take it off his drive for free, but i wouldnt pay for it if the clutch needs doing, it doesnt run right, the seals are leaking and the sunroof drains are probably blocked and therefore rotten.

I know someone who has a very nice one he wants £300 for. TBH, 'Roccos go for less than MKII Golfs which are fairly worthless unless mint anyway.
In this case I'd want it buck shee I think. My best offer would be a bottle of scotch.

Yep, as others have said, it's worth half of sod all. No scene tax on Mk2 Roccos. The one I'll be selling shortly is a good'un and had quite a bit spent on sorting it into a pretty quick car, and I'll probably only get £5-600 for it with 6 months T&T. ( )

Makes me sad it does, using money to judge if you want a car or not Stop using your brain, and go with yer gut feeling (or heart, heart works too )

You have two choices in order not to be shunned.
1. Go get it.
2. Tell someone (preferaby me) where the hell it is so they can go get it.
;D

Got my 1986 GTS for £195 off the bay with 3 months ticket and it passed the next one needing just a tyre. Never had to do anything to it in the six months I`ve been using it as a daily driver.

I'm quite tempted to give him 50 quid and have it as a slow moving project.
