Had a quality 'tat hunting day' today! been out and about looking for metro bits, been to 2 local scrappies before doing the motherload of scrapyards that you may rembmber me posting about a few months back! started off at the closest yard, no metros! but we did find this So on to the next, guess what, no metros! but i did see this comedy way of getting a mini drum brake off so it was worth it! So then on to the final stop that you might remeber from before but on the way we got lost and stumbled across these 2 buteys just sitting in a random field surrounded by old farm machines and stuff, obviously hadnt moved from many years! Series 1? on a V?? spares! (no engine suspension or floor tho! ) After that we headed to the motherload Cars! Midget? Triumphs! Talbot! (took me a while to work that one out! ) Visa Spaceframe! Best of british ello princess dodgey! The guys front drive! found one! Ebay!£££ What i came for The plural of Montego is 'stack'. Say after me "A stack of Montegos" Diceing with death for a dash top! Mobster 505 grrrr end of some minis I got some hydrogas units to convert the metros rear units to the front type, got a pair of vented disc calipers and a turbo rear antiroll bar, spare fuse box and alot of junk for 50 notes! And the best find of the day: A genuine British leyland E-knob, the E stands for Extreme so by my calculation once i fit it to the metro it will do 344mph and 86.4mpg! ;D 'Put it in E and she will do 3.5 hectares on a single tank of kerosene!' madness

Nice pics! But some corrections. The Landy is a Series II or IIA but the V plate is still an oddity as they stopped making them in about 71 I think!
The Princesses are actually Ambassadors. A scrapyard of the great unloved! I'm glad it isn't on my doorstep or I'd know what I'll be doing next week...

I looked closely, but couldn't see any sign of it being ex-WD....it's certaily got civvy-spec headlights (and indeed they are inboard so it's definitely pre-69, even the last two years of IIA production saw the headlights out on the wings) and there are no signs of any extraneous holes for aerials etc.....I had a T-reg 2a a few years ago that was actually a '65 but that still had the extra oil coolers and holes for the radio gear.

OOh, ooh, I recognise the red coupe but I'm bvggered if I can remember what it is right now. Reliant Sabre or a Turner GT? Hmmm neither seems "right". Swage under the lights makes me think Renault Flouride or Caravelle, but it doesn't have the rear flank vents to be one of them. So I'm thinking British and GRP and low production run. To big to be a Berkley.

great pics! the wheels on that midget thing look worth having, are they dunlops? Naaah...they're proper late 60's factory rims....dunno if the Midget had them, the Austin-Healey Sprite definitely did...reckon my dad's got a set stashed somewhere.

YEEEEOW!! Ace spottage and a cracking commentary. Those escorts & minivans would probably fetch £8.4bn if you stuck them on egay. Where is this place or is it a secret? Oh and the landrover looks Series 2 to me .... maybe another wierd import job - remember my S2A was a '68 with a '77 reg...

Its not exactly a secret but you will only here about it by word of mouth. Its not relly a scrap yard as such, its attulay in a guys garden tbh! He will let you go round and take bits off if you have a word. He runs a little engineering buisness there too, got a proper old skool rolling road and crank balancer which comes in handy! He probably hasent heard of ebay, i tripped over about 4 ford type 9 boxes just laying in the grass!

Make the most of it because the environmental folks will come down on folk like this pretty hard in the next few years. Having your own personal scrapyard is seen as a bad thing!
No, you must take your car to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. Oh and it'll cost you. So, is it really surprising that people keep abandoning cars?! Rant over, sorry.
I think importing is the only reason that landy could have a V plate (or MOD as also discussed) because in the old days, they gave you a plate based on the import (or release from service) date rather than when it was built!
