Just though of another. I know this isn't exactly a new car but compared to what I drive it is pretty darn furturistic! If I end up needing a "sensible" family car an early Espace is on the shopping list ;D

DC2 Integra Type R. Yes! - I miss mine like crazy, wish i'd never sold it No.18 (never knew if this was a UK or Europewide numbering thing?) With only 33,000 miles on it - not seen a cleaner one since One of those cars that on an initial drive you wonder what all the fuss is about - apart from the obviously direct & well weighted steering... then once you open it up and fire it down your favourite B-road and experience the car's abilities it all becomes clear There seems to be lots of modern cars that I like, got a real thing for the new shape 3 series BMW at the moment - the new twin turbo'd 3.0l diesel & petrol engines seem a real peach. I must concur aswell with the Charade GTTi (loved the 'turbo' symbol on the dash that illuminated when you were on boost ;D) And the Lupo - they look so cool with the Euro look Seriously contemplating a Nissan Primera GT as my next car - from what I've heard they are a really good steer. And being reliable, practical - and relatively cheap to buy, so would seem to fit the bill perfectly

Ref: current shape Mongsdildo.
I've driven a Passat and Mongsdildo back to back (had the Mongsdildo has a hire car). The Ford, in TDCI form, has a horribly light throttle and clutch, meaning you either spin all the power away or bog down when pulling away, they've made the steering over-light, but it still torque steers, and the interior is just naff. Fake plastic Maserati clock - what's that all about?
The Mondeo may be better than a B5.5 Passat, but it's not a huge surprise as the Mondeo was designed by the same team and was pretty much just a refined version of it.......
The new Passat is a very nice bit of kit - I'd not have anything else in the class other than a 159, but they're stupidly expensive compared with the Passat, which is so reasonably priced, it makes the Ford look expensive.

Does a Renault Twingo sneak in as a modern car? I love these things! I love them too! borderline retro IMO, retro style shape and renner 5 underpinnings (clio later), they're great! we've got 3 at work (the boss likes 'em too) one is dropped on bilstien struts (it's real low and raked) on 14" clio special wheels, its superb! more interior space than there looks, too. rhd turbo project on the back burner

Either way it has become one of those "modern" cars I desire for no apparent reason.

I also like those Volvos. The realy "sculpted" sides do it for me. I also also have a fancy for a current Ford CROWN Victoria (or the pluster Mercury Grand Marquis) so I can get that real American Pensioner vibe. The best of which was the Mercury Marauder of which I believe they sold about three. Which was a shame. Any colour you like so long as its black. Was supposed to be a 2000's version of the Buick Grand National. (high-po, all black, decent spec) but never caught the public imagination. Also the only car in recent memory to be wheelspun on an official media presentation... Technically such things are banned but Ford went for it. I have seen a picture of a silver one though. Although that could have been a Marquis or customer repaint. I think they only made them 2003-2004.

If I end up needing a "sensible" family car an early Espace is on the shopping list ;D my dad had one when i was a kid, slightly newer spec one, with the slanting front grille. did seem pretty futuristic at the time, had loads of things we'd never seen before, central locking, electric windows, sunroof front seats that could swivel round, removable or foldable rear seats, trays on the back of the front seats, headlamp washers etc most of that seems pretty basic now, but as a kid it was amazing!

Top gear idea? Nah, Renner has been at it for yonks This is the 1995 Espace F1 concept, and although Google turns up nothing I'm sure there was one done on the earlier body shape as well. Its only a concept car, but its a fully running driving one and I have seen pics of Espace's in racing before in like an MPV class somewhere in Europe. Probably Sweden thinking about it, they race everything and anything over there.

trg1984 in da house: post pics of the modern cars that you have an unexplainable soft spot for.Besides that El Camino that's gnawing at my brain stem there's two cars I could easily roll up at Mosta Hill and not be ashamed of.... #1. Audi A8, preferably in flat black on 18" rims with Moon Discs and a slam...... #2. Although I'm not a big fan of all these retro looking new cars that are pumped out by the Yanks I just love this MOPAR done by Cherry Bomb..... DP says: Some day these might be called "retro"......

Couple of pics: 1. The Fox we had on loan from the dealer the other day... er... yellow! 2. A really cool (IMO) new type Fiesta I saw the other day, look at the width of it! Sorry about poor photos, had to be quick as it was driving off.
