As the lad has been suspended they won't dish it out. FCKERS. Then point out that failure to disclose renders them party to the offence. I was actually at work in Putney at the time of the offence, as could be proven by our work log-books (booking on to work on the underground is a beaurocratic nightmare but has it's advantages),..... Good start but it shouldn't be needed BUT I am required to tell them either (a) who was driving or (b) who I sold the car to. I can't do either. MUTHA FARKING traveller SCUMCUNTZ Yes you can and you already have Now if you completed the log book as per their requirements and sent it off on time then that was your notification of sale or transfer. They do not require you to prove ID of purchaser and verify their address and cannot expect you to do so. The DL number is as optional as the mileage on a reg document notification of sale or transfer I am sure you have a copy of the Sold as seen blah blah note that you would have done at the time of sale/pick up You have a copy of the ebay auction printed out obviously I cannot see how they can hold you responsible so don't panic - stick to your guns and tough it out....... Write nice polite but firm letters and they will have no choice but to give up. They will as a result put a "previous keeper details only" on the DVLA records which renders you as not liable for any future "issues" The police will put a stop arrest or identify driver note on the PNC mirror of the DVLA Database and also note the recent offences recorded against that vehicle. I wouldn't want to be in the car when it next gets spotted and checked

Hmm Yeah, Really once the DVLA had 'Processed' the log book and got a 'return to sender der da der da' they should of alerted all cops and amazing-wonder-robot-cops (cameras) to look for a chavv'd up Escort Cabbie specially in the areas butchered into the fake address. I'd imagine this sort of thing that gets stopped when cops are about anyway, His time is limited if he goes near burger shops...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I've had this happen twice recently and this is what happened...
First time - my mrs sells a scrote MOT failure that a customer had dumped on me. She put it in the local paper and some guys turn up while i was at work, she said they seemed decent so didn't bother to fill in the V5 and just gave it to them complete. Next thing is, I have the police round because the car is wanted in 4 counties! I also get a letter from DVLA saying they intend to prosecute and a letter from a solicitor threatening prosecution due ti a car crash 'I' had. I told the police what had happened and gave them as much info as possible and all they did was tell me off. I then contacted DVLA and informed them what had happened and that the Police had been informed and they dropped it. I called the solicitor and explained what had happened and passed them the crime numbers from the Police and that was the last I heard about it.
Second thing - I sold a 480 Turbo, filled in the V5 and sent it to DVLA. Then 2 months later I got a parking ticket which i had to pay because the V5 got lost in the post. DVLA then tried to prosecute me for having no tax on it so I sent them a nasty letter telling them I sent the V5 and I can do no more than that and they dropped it.
Stand your ground, they will not prosecute you as you have done everything right. you have plenty of concrete evidence so don't worry.

mailed everyone else they had traded with... seems a few folk have had problems with this chap. One was kind enough to provide me with a name and address which they verified as correct as they delivered to them. Result.

Good result Pog.
This thread certainly made me think about a few cars I've sold. The one I sold last week, I just filled out the v5 and gave it to them!

Yay! Yay! and Yay! again! Hopefully the camera that caught 'you' driving is a front-facing one and will get a nice shot of monkeyboys face, so when the cops go round for a chat they'll be able to do him not only for failure to notify the DVLA, but also doing moronic speeds in a 30 zone which sounds like a ban on it's own.
Yay! Good detective work mister weasel. I'd echo everyone else when saying i think your work here is done, just pass it over to the cops and let them deal with it. It is worth noting though that you can backdate V5s as far back as you see fit, so if you were to put his actual real address on it, put the date as to when you sold it, then all fines gathered should be his.
I filled out my V5 when I bought the T3 in 2002, but only posted it last month (I'm forgetful, what can I say?).... V5 turned up last week, my name on it, date of purchase is 2002!

Everything will get posted off today, so hopefully will be fine. Interestingly, we also ran a check on the MoT status of the car last night.... It was put in for a test on 27th Oct at a garage in Derby, where it failed on structural corrosion on the sills, bald tyres, duff exhaust, no washers, yadda yadda. Basically all the stuff that was wrong with it when I sold it. It hasn't been re-tested.
