Yeah, the thing that gets me is people don't like being overtaken by an old(er) car and generally drive like nobs just to keep you behind them. Also, when driving the Clan, boy racers seem to want to race away from the lights and enjoy driving right up my when behind me. To combat this I just drive really slow until they pull out to overtake and then put my foot down and leave them with the embarrassment of a failed attempt.

pedestrians arent much better. at least where I work. pulled into the industrial estate I work on only to find some helpful people walking straight down the middle of the road. never mind I thought they havent noticed me yet. never did move. fair enough there wasnt any pavement but at least walk down the side or through the car park that runs along side the road.
or there was the time I pulled into the road just as a helpful person (who HAD noticed me) walked out right in front to cross the road. next time I wont stop.
at least the majority of the people in my industrial estate are foreign so they usually rant at you in their native tongue. then I can at least pretend they are saying "I'm so sorry, I'm clearly a tw*t and have no idea what I'm doing. its lucky I was walking and not driving or else there would be a serious accident. you are great!" ;D

There are some new lights near me (it was a perfectly normal junction, now its all lights and boxes, an you wait 10 times longer...) which have a really irritating habit. if there is no other traffic, as you approach them , they turn red, so you brake, and just as you stop, they change back again!!!

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I was well into my turning manouvre before they walked across the road.
and I never liked that law. fair enough if they're already half way across but a pedestrian having right of way over a car on a ROAD (other than zebra crossings)? to me that just breeds the attitude "sod the cars, theyll work around me" and makes pedestrians believe they're invincible. edit: and I know a few people that take that attitude as well.
id like to point out I'm often a pedestrian so I'm not biased! I always "give way" to cars since its easier for me to stop walking than it is for a car to stop moving. plus if there was a collision it would be me that would come off a lot worse

I fully agree, but you'd be surprised at how many drivers don't know it

Ok, iv not been driving for that long. Just over two years and id like to think I was quite a careful driver. Even I have noticed that driving has really gone downhill. People, don't stop at lights, the don't bloody indicate on roundabouts! They push out infront of you. Have more road rage! I was coming off a slip road one day and there was a passat behind me. I couldn't get onto the motorway as a lorry wasn't letting me on(hate lorry drivers) so I slowed down to let the lorry go past so I could go out and the guy in the passat started beeping at me. He then drove past, stuck his fingers up at me and started shouting. He got quite a shock when I shouted back so he just drove off. There was no need to do all that. Also I was overtaking someone who was doing 50ish so I was out in the fastlane doing 70 and an audi tt drove up behind me and started flashing me out the way so I stayed as I was till I was past the car I was passing and pulled in. The audi driver had the cheek to give me a gesture aswel when he went past! Grr. Grade A bumhole. Don't go hating lorries though. Drive one and you'll develop a whole new world of respect. Imagine being limited to 56mph and having about as much rearward visibility as a Countach. They can't always move out of your way and you should give way to traffic already on the motorway (which is why the Passat driver is a complete div). I have a lot of respect for truckers. I'm getting a little more worried about some of the foreign ones, especially when they don't have blind spot mirrors to cover the area YOU are sitting in when they want to overtake another truck... Oh and I'm quite used to sailing past people in my Deuche (I can do 70 you know!) only to have them come sailing past a few moments later! Ian

thats because waving, flashing and 'the finger' are not reconised on the rules of the road. you realy should never take any notice of people flashing you, unless its to say thank you, which is getting pretty rare these days in the 'get outta my way I'm coming through' state of mind most drives seem to be in. ok flashing and waving isnt recognised as a rule of the road but if I'm not moving, flashing my lights andwaving some one out of a side road then i expcet them to fooking move and not to sit there waiting for the worlf to end, its usually older people too, not sure why tho

Yeah, there was nothing else i could do except slow down and wait for the lorry to go past but the idiot behind me decided to act like a complete tosspot.
