Well, my big plans for the Volvo turbo I was planning on getting died when I found that the headgasket had gone (at least I hadn't bought it).
Been offered a tidy Xedos 6 for not a lot as a daily. Don't know anything about them. Any good? Potentail future retro? There certainly ain't many about!!!

don't know a great deal. But what I do know is basically good handling, if a little bland. Very smooth V6 engine with loads of torque. They don't actually feel quick but they are surprising as the don't have a noticeable power band and they pull strongly from tickover to redline. Interesting choice of motor

I had the same 2 litre V6 in my 323F, its a lovely smooth engine, revs nicely too I've never really been taken by the xedos6 styling though, i'd much prefer a xedos9, mmmm, 2.3 miller engine They'll be retro in time, just not quite yet. A lot of car for the money though! I say go for it

Good call, I worked on them when they were new, bargain basement price and bullet proof reliability will always attract the lack of maintainance/ bangernomics brigade so look for a well kept model. Service work can be a bit fidly especialy if the rear cam or head gasket requires changing, cambelts are a bit tight to change as well. Parts will be more expensive than the average car but haggle for a discout from the main dealer . Xedos 9 FTMFW though, much better looking imo and super smooth Xedos 6 xedos 9 Do it! I like them anyway.

Its a great V6! Camshafts are hollow so be careful if you have to do any work near them and check for signs of head gasket damage as I have seen a few (extremely thrashed) ones with blown gaskets and having done a pair of them in an MX-6 it isn't a weekend job! Check the radiator, the cap area can crack (causing blown head gaskets) and the radiators can suffer from the usual Japanese radiator fin rot (Nothing to do with fish!) Oh, and according to Mazda, its pronounced 'Kersaydos' not 'Exdos'! I dunno either!

I saw them on TV when they were launched and they said it was more 'cuh-say-dos'.
didn't realise they were quite so cheap though, look excellent value!

Going for a spin at the weekend. I know the owner well, car is only for sale as she bought a Jag on a wim!!!! M reg, lots of history inc clutch replacement etc. Leather, aircon, remote central locking, cruise control, alloys etc etc. £500, which I don't think is bad, knowing how well she looked after it and how much has been spent in the past.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Loved the touring cars! Don't know anything else about them though. Sorry! Matt NEal rolled one about 9 times down the straight at Silverstone in 94, didn't look much like a 6 after that

My mum nearly bought one instead of the 626 when it was new. Wish she had... Was just too expensive though.
