Any accident you walk away from is a good accident! Nobody was hurt, it could have been a lot worse. Just to add that lots of us have done that......

Gutted for you. I wrecked my 100E being silly and it's not somethign I'm proud of but these things happen. I took out a parked car and as a final poke in the eye I found out I was uninsured too so had to cough up the whole lot.
Don't kick yourself too much. We all crash, just some of us do it in old cars. The main thing is you're ok.

You're here to tell us about it, so no big deal. Yes, you've buggered up your nice car, but that's replacable, you're not. Get back behind the wheel of a car asap, get your imp straightened out asap, and in no time you'll be joking about the day you ploughed a field

When I stuffed up my Impreza (it deserved it!) I did struggle with corners in the after-math. Every turn starts to scare you. I ended up doing one of these supercars days to get over it. Hooning a Lotus Elise and a Dodge Viper around a track with expert tuition soon had me feeling confident again but this time, with a healthy dose of respect for road conditions!

Yeah for a while after a crash like that, your car will feel like its just about to slide on every corner. I just gave it time and took it real easy!

Sorry to read that, but as the others have said, don't be so hard on yourself. You escaped unhurt, so now you can concentrate on getting the car fixed.
It's not that bad, judging by the photos. You can get a new roof panel off a parts car (quite a few of those about), then all the other panel damage is quite easy to sort out (new boot lid, new passenger door - or push the panel out for now, passenger front wing, then a front valance repair). The rear quarters look unscathed, which is good, as those are always a pain to repair/replace.
Get it back on the road now whilst you collect parts to repair it. With all the dents it will be a good conversation piece!
Good luck,
Mike

Ah well. don't beat yourself up too much over it, accidents happen! Think of it this way, you had a minorish off now and that will make you a better driver and save you having a megasmash in the future! No third party involved, only casualties - field, ego and imp. Telling people in the pub you rolled an imp has got to be better than telling them you rolled a fiesta. Get back in a car before you loose your nerve!
I can tell from your post that you must be pretty shaken up by it and your not one of these tw@ts who brag to all their mates about totalling their maxxed corsa at 100 mph so I'm sure the whole sorry experience will only add to your driving skills and talent.

The main thing - as has been said - is that you're ok. That is the main thing.
You were just having a good time and it went abit wrong. Happens to us all.
Don't worry about it.

agree about the get back in a car and drive comments too, The couple of car 'incidents' i've had are not worth worrying about but I have had a couple of big-ish bike ones and the best advice is go get back out there now, it will feel icky and unpleasant but do it, keeps your confidence up.

Glad you're physically OK...as for you being like worthless skum, I think we all know that's not true! I understand your anger, but I also understand how a rear engined car can catch anyone out. I've never driven an Imp, but obviously plenty of rear engined Skodas.....which have a high level of grip, but once the rear end steps out a tiny amount it is almost impossible to correct it quick enough. Front engined cars, wether front or rear wheel drive are far easier to get back on line when grip is lost. Slow in, fast out is the rear engined rule regarding corners....though I personally prefer fast in, even faster out! ;D Where do you live mate..anything any of us can do to help?

Bugger At least you walked away though mate. I hope the Imp isn't in too much of a bad way. You'll get something sorted though

glad to hear you're ok frank ,(but you knew that anyway). i've had a gooooood look-see at the pics and imho it doesn't look that bad, most of it is cosmetic and some of the stuff like the roof may just pop out quite nicely on a warm day (in england who am i kidding? ;D) question is ,while it was upside down did you think to check your underseal? ;D ;D ;D seriously though,if you need any help sourcing bits etc just drop me a line.oh and the guy with the roof on offer is a good mate of mine,i could help you chop the roof off his old shell if needs be.

LOL @ checking the underseal ;D
It is a shame it happened and to such a nice Imp, but don't worry, Imps can be repaired......and upgraded.....and bored out.......and supercharged, .......but you can't. So I am pleased you're are OK. I'm sure the Imp will soon be back in shape.
I would like to mention "Congratulations on saying sorry about the situation. Although most of us have pranged or dented the car sometime, not many of us are intelligent enough to realize what kind of situation we were in. So welldone for having a responsible attitude in regards to learning from your mistake.
I bet it all seemed as if it was happening in slow motion, when it started to skid. What cross section tyres are on the car ? I suspect that small tyres on car make you drive more slowly round bends so that even though you're near the limit, you're still travelling slowly. I'm sure Tiff Needel highlighted this point in a std Morris 1000 once.

Welcome to the club my friend! These things happen, unfortunately this time a nice retro got binned. Hope you can repair it and continue to enjoy it. But I'm glad you are unhurt, apart from your pride of course. At least you were having fun at the time!

don't take this the wrong way... but DO beat yourself up about it a little. you've already the battle won in realising you were at fault and not the driver you thought you were, but don't get carried away and get complacent. but you ARE ok and the car looks grand, just learn from your mistakes unlike so many drivers who go out and do the same again. except in saxo's you get crushed to death. as a bye-note its a tribute to british engineering!
[and i felt the same 5 times in march this year - 5 fault accidents including writing off someone elses car - and then 3 months later wrote off my own car. I'm not preaching I'm helping - i hope!]

Well said Realise you made a mistake and the experience of what happens when you do will make you a better driver if you learn from it. I know people who have been driving for decades and never had an accident and I wouldn't call them good drivers - in some cases I'd say they are awfull and have no idea what is happening under the car at the best of times!!!
