Its been a bad day Was getting the ghia sorted for its mot, part of which was to weld up a hole in the front inner wing. A bit of prodding and poking reveals than its had hundreds of patch repairs, all carefully hidden. There made out of steel thats way too thin and welded over the origional rust. I'm sure your all experienced enough to know what it looks like. A 6 inch repair has turned into £400 worth of repair panels I almost feel like weighing it in, but ill perservere. The worrying thing is the PO did LOTS of repair work on this car, i hope its not all as badly done as the inner wings!! Anyone got any pics of tasty ghias to keep my enthusiasm up?

Front wings are meant to be a real nightmare area on type 3 ghias arent they? I seem to remember a set of razor edge 'NOS' wings going for ridiculous money last year

pannels are actually easier/cheaper for t3 ghias!
The reapir panels are hideous for mine.
Inner wings, come in 3 parts, £180 a side front wings, JUST under £1000 a side front nose panel between wings, £350 headlight buckets, £50 a side headlight repair panels, £60 a side front wheel well, 2 parts, £100 front bumper, £600
You really don't want to crash one of these!!!

don't let that put you off, just make sure the OUTER wings aint shagged. You can get repair pannels for £60 to repair the front lower edge of them and the headlight repair pannels. As long as the front wings are straight it can only cost a maximum of £200 a side to repair the wings.
I just realised, i say that as if £200 to still have a repaired wing is a good deal!! ;D
Just make sure its fully comp insured in case the worst happens.
It may be a pain in the ass to repair as its all coach built and leaded, and panels may be pricey, but its still the best looking car ever made!

i was thinking more slammed, plastic windows, stripped out and turbo'd ;D But hey, any ghias a good ghia, especially one in that condition! Mine will never be like that, i could get the bodywork fantastic, but then i'd have to spend a fortune on all the trim etc so mine is staying ratty but low and hopefully quick

To be honest, unless its a £8-9k minter a front end smash will probably be a write off anyway by the time you pay for the work. The first thing i did when i got this car was make sure the brakes were as good as they can be! As for the tyre smoking blue ghia, isnt that the cosworth one from SM/CC years back? I think it lives in brighton.
