I think I would be worried about making a t!t of myself, but if there were other n00bs on the track spinning their cars I'd feel less daft. Like you say, gotta just get in and have a go! I'm sure even the most competent drifters started off doing 180's more than a few times! ;D This thread has been really helpful - thanks for all the replies. I really wanna try it now!!! ;D

I take my hat off to anybody who can properly drift, it's a definite artform and when done properly is a joy to watch. I've driven RWD since I passed 17yrs ago and love getting the back end out, but when I went to a practice day three years ago it changed my perception wildy.
As usual there is a lot of hype etc. But if you can cut through the curse word it's fantastic. I don't have the patience/money/time to learn how to do it properly.
Like Nick says there are plenty of places to learn how to do it and a day out is the best, get yourself along and have a laugh. The other thing is to go to an event and watch closely, you can learn a lot just from that and it supports the scene at the same time.
The best event I ever saw was at Rosegreen in Ireland the other year, it was amazing, the atmosphere and the driving was spectacular. Think illegal boxing match meets ballet... Blinding.
