boy am I not having fun at the moment!!
after all the "hooha" with the 411 recently ive been trying to sort the benz.
The exhaust was blowing, and having tried to bodge it to get it through an mot I bit the bullet and got a new downpipe section.
I needed it sorted asap, so went to fit it yesterday am. It P*ssed it down! so theres me lying in the road - typical, its gutter side - with torrents running past (and through) me!
I quickly realised I need a deep 17mm socket which I don't have. So I get hold of my larry dafandango who kindly gives me a lift so I can get the socket, and says I can use his garage in the pm.
So I go over to his at about 6. Every bolt was a nightmare, but only one ended up unusable. I get home at 9:30 with it sorted, but still blowing cos I hadnt replaced the fcuked bolt.
So I make a plan to do it this morning. Out I go, replace the bolts and nuts that had seen better days and start her up. No blowing, but theres a knocking on the floor. I figure it must be the exhaust hanger bracket I made a few weeks back, take a look and sure enough it is.
Then it starts raining.
so once again I'm laying in tidal waves, under a car with no space, and my hair hat and glasses keep getting trapped and caught up. However, I persevere. And got it done. I think I then started it up to check it had sorted the knocking, but I cant remember now I think back. I'm sure it did anyway.
and at this point I remember the brakes were tight when I put new pads in recently, and that it didnt seem right when I drove back from larrys last night. Its in the air so I decide to have a look. Passenger side rotates freely. Driver side is locked on. I spend HOURS taking these things to bits, and checking everything. It even got to the stage where a visit to GSF was payed to check the pads were correct (thanks again for the lift larry). We get back from gsf and look at things once more, trying to get our head around the problem larry realises that one of the pistons sticks out a couple mm more than its friend on the other side of the car. So we try and wind it in a little more (even though it had been done numerous time before) and have no joy. Upon now knowing the piston SHOULD depress a little more than it does it appears I have a piston siezed in the calliper.
And then it thundered.
Could much more go wrong with this bleeding car? I can see this turning into another 411 brake nightmare, where I'm chasing problems and curing one will only lead to the appearance of another.
I am SO fed up with cars at the minute.
apologies - I seem to have got rather carried away there! lol
