Left of field suggestion coming up. Someone mentioned staying in the smaller tax bracket so how about the 1NZ-FE from the Yaris 1.5 T-Sport? 107bhp out of the box and pretty good economy wise, although how easy they would be to find I'm not sure. Or the more common 2NZ-FE from the 1.3 Yaris, about 20bhp less than the 1.5 but still a great engine by all accounts. I'm guessing both would be way too left of field though.

wel,, you can ignore absolutely everything ive said, cos ive just bought a complete fiat 2L twink package out of a minor, running, with all ancillaries and gearbox, for about half what they seem to be going on egay for usually. anyone know what it will be from originally, and the power output?
i think ile probly ditch the stock carb and stick some bike ones on, but leave it fairly stock otherwise.

I think it would either be out of a 124 or a 131 and according to the interwebz they pushed out about 113bhp as standard in 2.0 form unless it's come out of a 131 Abarth in which case it might be closer to the 140bhp mark.

yeah, ive just done a bit of reading, and id say its most likely out of a 132/argenta, with 112ish hp. as from what ive read, 124s never got the 2L, and its got a 5spd box too, which appears to be the later, larger type. general tuning consensus on the interwebz is simply boshing on a set of twin 40s(or an equiv, say 40mm bike carbs  ) instantly puts it in the 130-140hp bracket. which is nice. |

Having recently got a 2.0l 9-3 turbo, with apparently 185 bhp, it feels like these are very consevatively rated engines. A friend of mine with an Audi S2 was a little taken aback at how "quick" the Saab felt compared with her Audi. Which actually begs a queston: is there room in the Lada for a 5-pot? Audi use them longitudely or what about a Volvo T-5 lump? The bhp figures for these are fairly accurate , it's the torque/midrange that gives the real shove in the back. Unless yours has been converted to full fat? Anyways, OP sorted now which is good news! |
