Looks great except for the rear arches which are to high compared to the wheel well.

Not hard to see what they've based that on... I quite like the front, something about the rear arches (as said above) is a bit strange.

yeah, the rear haunches looks a bit high, but i guess with a colour, lower and different wheels it could look much better overall i do like it though, some nicer rear lights would need to be fitted though

As above, the front looks great, although as has been said the rear end doesn't quite look right. Here's a quick P-shop... Before: After: Perhaps the rear overhang is a little long, or the wheelbase a little short?

It's the line from the door to the rear end I think. The doors are too square I think.

It doesn't look to shabby to me, but then again neither does the MX5, if it was to replace a rotten body but mechanically sound MX5, kit car like, then it would be ok, but it just seems to be a styling addition bolted on, I like it though, I wouldn't myself want to lose the drop top ability of the MX5

I think the Mazda might have been better to have not been based on a particular type of car but just styled for that era. Ditto. Provided the styling is properly resolved, but sadly this is often not the case, both for kits and very expensive low volume cars....

Can't say I'm really a fan of this, though I think there is a lot of potential to build a '60s style baby GT around an MX5. I'd be looking to vaguely replicate the shape of a WSM Sprite or something more in scale to the donor car though.
This topic has reminded me that a while back on RR somebody had gotten hold of an MX5 with a complete Wataru 01 bodyshell that had been in a heavy front end smash, I think it got as far a strip down and sourcing another donor car but I haven't seen any updates since then. Was one of the projects I was most looking forward to, too. Anyone remember what I'm going on about?

all these faux old looking mx5 kits are all let down by the fact they retain the mx5 windscreen and doors. For some reason my attention is always drawn towards them, be it a retro forza, pitcrew or wataru. the retro forza is still my fav out of the bunch, but I'm suprised no-one has gone a step further and produced a full on 60s style mx5 kit car, where the only parts used are the mechanical parts. Seen a few super 7 style and atom style kits and even a poor mans lotus elise kit but thats about it!
