I know it sounds sick but I think its mint when older blokes lose the plot and start doing things like this under the impression that its real quality work, its just priceless. Shame though its a really handsome looking car and would have looked a bit ahead of its time when new. I don't think he has lost the plot, it sounds like he is making more of an effort this time, last time he just used an inner tube to cover the wheel arch this time its copper sheet and bacofoil. Just waiting to see the tyres he makes from deerskins next

I bought a morris ital estate a few years ago that had been "restored" in the same way as that. I had it a year then it was "restored" again, back to its base components curtosey of european metal recycling.
I'm just speechless, Ive bodged before but this guy is the bodgemeister! He must think its all ok as hes taken pictures and put it on the web, imagine how bad his work must be when he really bodges stuff?

I hope this flies round all the forums like the guy who modded his corsa by folding the seats down! I can just imagine his mate telling him "hey bud, yer on the internet all over", he checks and finds that the WHOLE WORLD is p***ing itself at him.
god I love the internet

hahaha there is a section where he talks about the Hood frame, saying wether he should get them rechromed or keep them as they are (chrome). Then the Knob paints them in fookin red oxide, classic.
A-OK is used far too often for me, what a KNOB end

I must admit when I saw this in the morning I thought at first it was a ‘pi$$take’ but it isn’t so … …then I thought Oh-my-Lord-WTF-Shock-horror-and so-forth. But have since had a little think … … Now I’m not saying what he has done is any good, or the right way to do it (we ALL know it is NOT) but I’m sure older members on this forum will remember many a ‘Bodywork’ section of a Motoring book from the 1940’s to early 1970’s used to show people how to do exactly this sort of thing (with lovely Black and white picces to boot; 1967 Odhams ‘New’ motor manual is just one example) . Also with regards to ‘strength’ and ‘safety’ of vehicle this sort of cruiser is probably on a thick girder like chassis so even if the whole body was patched up with papier-mâché, polyfiller, chicken wire, bubble gum, cow dung etc. it would still be a solid lump and I for one would not like to run into with any of my old bangers! ;D With regards to people saying its all a ‘bodge’ (which I agree IS), How many of us on this forum have ‘bodged’ things in the past …I will openly admit I have been a dab hand with the good ole P38 on one of my many Minis. However I did NOT try to pass it off as a ‘proper’ restoration and in fact sold it to a friend with all bodges declared (and he knew anyway ‘cause he’d helped me with it ;D ). I enjoyed reading it (right or wrong). So after my little spiel (If any man have not sinned let him come forth and cast a stone upon this poor wretch – and all that ) I will sit on the fence … …providing … He never ever passes it off as a ‘Properly/professionally restored’ classic car and inturn con someone out of a lot of money – but then perhaps he will not as he bought it for sentimental reasons just to use as a run-about round his cottage grounds?

Can see your point of view - my main issue being he thinks he's doing the car a favour..... it's cars like this that end up as unfinished projects when mugs like myself a few years back bought 'em with a 'rolling resto' in mind.
It is a damn good looking old boat and 'deserves' better I think.
All opinion of course! Each to his own..........
Off to make the nearest chickens 'free-range' and use their old runs as chassis strengthening ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D [JOKE]

Oh yes I totally agree with what you say there, as I said I earlier I would be very angry if he were to pass it on to some unsuspecting person with the claim of "What jobs I've done I've done 'proffesionally' etc.etc."

i love the way he says how many nuts and bolts and parts go into the hood mechanism, deliberates over how to strip it all down, then just 'refurbishes' it by spraying over the whole lot with red oxide!
in fact the guy seems to use 'refurbish' as a synonym for 'bodge' at every turn.... i'm all for taking the odd shortcut but i wouldn't pretend i've done it properly!
