Eh?
Its not an expensive money pit like some italian dream, stick some belts on it and it will probable go forever! If it doesnt, well an engine can be had for under £200, a gear box about £150. If you get any issues the give me a PM, my friend breaks them and has most parts very cheap. (also he can fit a engine in a few hours cheaper than most) The only liabiity i can see is the timing belt (you can remove the balance belt if you don't want to replace it, i don't run one on mine ) other than that the only common fail is the DME relay, just carry a spare. Worst job on the car is the clutch (i have a good used clutch & flywheel if you want to keep it spare) If the sills are good then let it live (thats the biggest reason for killing a 944)

Which you can see I cant - so I have 2 options, move it on, or drive it till it goes pop clutch has already been done and the sills are good tho - so if anyone can do the work themselves then it would be a cracking little car.. But its not just the belts that need doing!!!!

Hello Steve, hows you and Wendy. I miss my old bay to but the chances of another are pretty slim and most of them seem full of filler. As I have always wanted a Porsche I think I would stick with it and have some fun until that fun runs out and it gets to costly and then move on. On the other hand it would be nice to see you happy with what you have and achieve your end goal

Buggar - went to edit my post earlier and hit delete..
to summarise..
Well I'm in love with the car so it'll be getting done..
Had a blast over the weekend and its awesome, i love it, Ok, its not that powerful, but its smooth and handles really well
so list of things I shall be wanting to do..
Belts Service Gearbox n Diff oil change New tyres Bleed clutch system properly then take it on a euro roadtrip..
Got some other bits that need attention, couple of arches bubbling too and seat mount needs sorting, but i'm now thing, SORN it and get cracking, going to be a slow process but...
If anyone fancies a weekend in west berkshire helping out, that'd be amazing..

Well thought it about time i got some 'better pics' up - sadly the little point n shoot i took with me isnt the best.. anyways, hope this gives a better all round picture instead of the poor pics to start with Front quarter shot from a bit higher to show the roof Must admit the black is defo growing on me.. Rear quarte side Rust to rear of front arch scabby leading edge of rear arch these 2 bits seem to be the only bits of scabbyness i can find - underneath and the sills look great My seat - yes i do fit.. just Wendy's seat has a split tho I love this veiw and from the front i just love it..

Whoa Hey! Bookmarked. ...dunno how I missed your thread Lawsy - just had a read through. Glad you're going to keep the 944. Working on them isn't that bad as you can see for the various threads on RR. BTW try Berlyn for very good prices for parts www.partsforporsche.co.uk/

GOOD NEWS
Well potentially anyway, have tracked down a previous owner and had a chat, and he's pretty confident the belts have been within the last 3-4 years, so going to have another good hard read through the folder of receipts and see if there is any confirming evidence - but I think this will now confirm that I'll use it a little more for the time being, then start a build up when Mr MOT and mr Tax part company..
untill then, anyone wanna buy a personal plate.. lol
EDIT
just got home, studied every scrap of paper i can find, found a couple of receipts for belts, last belt fitted receipt was in 1995 along with a note for cambelt pully, followed by a receipt for a purchase of both a balance and cambelt in 2001.. another receipt in 2009 includes k seal rad treatment and a visual inspection of the belts suggesting that they need to be changed..
so i'm back to plan A...
get the work done.. no playing for a bit.. gonna use it on bank holiday Monday to go to castlecombe to watch the racing, then home and get cracking...
Gonna tackle it myself.. (with some help from anyone willing)

Another morning update..
Just opened up my emails at work and am greeted with one from a previous owner..
So thats settled my mind, I am now going to use it till the MOT expires and then its getting sorted, hopefuly by then, mrslawsy will have allowed me to pinch some garden space and build a carport..
Excited now..
Plans unfolding and at least i get to enjoy it before i take it apart..
