I think it was the comment about me driving something equipped with the green oval of doom on it... Turns out he meant to say blue... 😂😂😂 Sorry couldn't resist 😉. I am guessing you didn't replace the locking washers on your driveshafts when installing them. Been ther, done that. The after my final exam, I drove home ine the rain, suddenly there was no propulsion but a lot of noise. Had to pull into a drivaway and investigate. The driveshaft was hanging loose, but intact and with all the bolts in place. Used a flat screwdriver to get it back together and limped home.

Never seen them on the driveshaft bolts, other than the little tabs between 2 bolts. It was a self inflicted failure, as it would appear I never tightened them up to spec since it came home and I put them in place to keep everything in check

will have to check mine now..........never ever ever ever ever used a torque wrench on my car, always tighten stuff up to "yeah that's it" and the a quarter turn on top....never had anything fall either though. will also check the tabs are on the bolts though over the weekened just to make sure its all good

Got the drive shaft off on Tuesday night and stripped down to replace the joint, only to discover the part in the box was wrong! Double checked the part number on the box online and it checks out, but the CV joint inside was too small to fit on the driveshaft splines, or the hub flange Another one ordered up and got that fitted last night without and drama. Went to shuffle off the drive, and had no reverse to start with. Thought what the hell, I'll give it a run and see if it's ok when hot. Got back home after a 3mile trip, and reversed up on the drive no problem. So I decided to check and top up all the fluids, and found the auto box dipstick dry! Topped that up and went through the motions to check the level and got it up to the minimum mark, and thought it best to have a nose underneath the car... Only to discover ATF dripping out the bell housing area! So that's me stuffed again til I get my spare A4LDe rebuilt/titivated to swap over in to the car

I hope it isn't Hoping it is just the oil seal on the front cover/pump housing and it got the hump being out of use for 3 years I have a spare autobox, although I have had that in the shed for ages. Was going to give that a filter change, new oil seals and mod the oil pump housing oil return and "just sling that in"

After @johnnybravo made me have a @quatermass moment of overthinking with his suggestion of the torque converter, I thought it wise to investigate it before pulling the tranny off and replacing it. Starter motor removed for access, and my little Snap-on video scope thingy slipped in and around the torque converter to almost right next to the input shaft oil seal. Converter was nice and dry, and the webs on the front of the transmission housing wet! Shall keep an eye on the level, and keep on going thought I Monday of this week I took the car to work to tweak the headlight aim (not both quite the same angle, and it irks me somewhat) and see what the new noise is that developed on Friday evening! Headlights adjusted, new posh bulbs fitted and investigate underneath whilst it was on the mot ramp. All the driveshaft bolts still tight, however, grabbing the propshaft and rocking it back and forth shows a lot of slack! And it wasn't the differential. Both inner CV joints are slack as (insert whimsical female name here) and slight play on the offside outer joint. Not wanting to be caught out with a dicky CV joint again, 3 new ones ordered up. And also discovered that the nearside front coil spring was sitting in the sub frame instead of below it, supported by the coilover. Ran out of time at work for my own tinkering, so when I got home I set to stripping the coilover out to replace the spring platform, only to discover... So that was me out of action with the car for Monday. Seemed to recollect that I had a spare top mount somewhere, so hunted high and low in my stock piles to no avail. Then decided it must be at work in my tool box! Packed a work bag and returned some work tools on Tuesday and took the coilover in with me as well. Successfully found the spare top mount exactly where I suspected it to be at work, so swapped that over And the car looking sorry for itself sat on the drive with no suspension on the nearside front Although the rear arch gap pleases me at the mo

It's looking rather rakish and good there. You should leave the suspension off and get a decent cushion instead.

gotta agree with the post above, that sits real nice now even though its for all the wrong reasons
after all the issues regarding the front suspension set up so far, have you thought about contacting someone like GAZ and asking them to make up something bespoke at all. they will have an idea of what poundage the set up will need , how much travel there'll be etc

Might be worth checking the springs aren't going coil bound, the spring seat should not see a very high load (most of the impact loads should go through the bump stop)
If so simplest option is to fit longer bump stops.

can noel Gallagher help you again at all, I saw him by your car holding the driveshaft in the earlier pic..... gotta agree with the post above, that sits real nice now even though its for all the wrong reasons after all the issues regarding the front suspension set up so far, have you thought about contacting someone like GAZ and asking them to make up something bespoke at all. they will have an idea of what poundage the set up will need , how much travel there'll be etc Spoke to them years ago before getting g the Avo setup. Got the usual "you cant fit coilovers on them, theres to much needs modifying" Shall investigate when it's back together if it can go coil bound tho
