Hey all, Thought I'd ask the opinion of the mighty RR as I'm unsure as to what to do and you all haev better ideas than me! My Porsche 924 Turbo is apparently mechanically sound but the paint is rubbish. Now they are getting pretty rare (Especially runners!) so part of me says repaint it, polish it and look after it, but it is scruffy already and needs paint and part of me wants a change... I'm not going to slam it as it's my daily and it has a well used tow bar, I also have the Esprit for going fast in. I'm more interested in the paint options and maybe a bit of subtle body mods.... paint will need to be rustoleum style as I'm not paying for a respray! Wheels are 5 stud porsche fitment so loads of options but can be very spendy! I've always have a thing for the D-Prod cars, arches and chin spoilers. They were all tuned non-turbo racecars though. So what do you all reckon?

like you say it is getting to be a rare car. If it were mine and i didn't want to spend money on it making it pristine, i think i would be inclined to sell it on rather than mess it up with rustoleum. it looks pretty clean in the pics and imo worth getting a nice sprayjob on. still it isn't my car, so do what you like to it!

It's for sale now, and has been for months, they simply aren't selling at all, especially scruffy like this. It's got no real problems, a couple of bits of surface rust and a dent in the front wing. There are loads of scruffy ones about and they are all being broken for spares As I say it's my daily, I'd love to sell it on and get something else, but no one wants them. A pic of my old N/A:

I've mopped it before and it lasts about a week, the paint is too far gone.
To keep it original it'll have to be a full respray. The rear quarters are a totally different shade of red thanks to a half-assed job by a previous owner.

Have you heard about roller-painting it? I'm sure you can find some info on it, it's a lot cheaper than a proper respray and it would suit what you need I reckon. One thing though, it is cheaper but it requires a lot of work so you'd have to do it yourself and it won't happen without breaking a sweat but I've heard good feedbacks on it.
Generally I'd say keep it stock, if it's rare and sound it's always the best option if you want to sell it on.

yea, roller paint it with rustoleum, you can always get it resprayed in the future, when the value warrants it, but it's your car

Yeah been looking at Rustoleum in the 'rollering for idiots' thread with interest. Trouble is it's worth more in bits so I'm reluctant to sell it on to a breaker.
I'll have a ponder.... A D-prod kit wouldn't be massive mods, the front wings are bolt on and the rear arches would be a few screw holes and some filler..... I have to say I'm quite surprised about the keep it stock - the owners club are keener to see it modded!

I vote NATO green, or maybe the desert sand colour? Or some kind of camo / snow camo (lurid wheels optional): Or even paint some of the exterior to match the seats. Or this: NATO green I have done, some form of graffiti / art car will be one day in the future. Rob

I gave a lot of thought to these a few year's back. My conclusion is that they have troublesome arches that makes lowering them a getting them looking spot on hard work. They do suit the motorsport look (and performance) well!

Cheers all, I'm still pondering the D-production arches but I think I'll go for Rollered standard red and jsut tidy it all up instead. However this \/ has me thinking about the roof... ;D I Or even paint some of the exterior to match the seats.
