I immediately thought of this one: Oh DarrenW you are so much better at this than I am, that looks awesome. Why didn't I find it Oh and the strategic sticker idea.................I went to a trackday last year where there was a maroon colour 924 with a silver chequered flag design kind of draped over the rear hiding the bad paint on one rear 3/4. On that particular car colour it looked kinda rubbish but a black / white chequer flag design on yours would go well with the red, match your seats and be much better suited. Was a bit like this but nowhere near as square and Volvoish: Rob

very 80's ;D If it was mine... I'd be tempted to give it a (very good) satin black respray. Helps hide minor bodywork issues like small dents/repairs, and very low maintenance. A few key parts would just need spraying in gloss black to REALLY make it stand out too but..... I'd deffo get shot of those goddamn ugly wheels

Satin black has been done and the lime green stripes have been done too! I'll try find a pic later. I quite like the stance on that black/orange beast but the wheels look ungainly IMHO... Turbo/S 5 lug wheels are limited and properly spendy as pretty much every porker since has the same bolt pattern. The old N/A has citroen/renault/ford PCD so loads of choice. Cookie cutters are relatively easy to come by: D90s aren't 'that' hard to find either:

OK Taking this pic as inspriation: and a set of these I've found from a mate for £75. They are staggered 6J front and 7J rear too to keep them in the arches. They do however look like they haev been living in someones garden for a numebr of years... The plan is coming together... just need a spoilerless hatch (Can't just remove the old one as it leaves a right mess) Now I can work the paint out, it's going to be as close to the original red as possible to save painting everything in the engine bay and so on. However, as we all know the devil is in the detail. So I'm thinking of leaving off the rubbing strips, smoothing the front and rear bumpers to remove the rubber and deleting the rear wiper. I'm in two minds about the roof, I might paint it fully then vinyl it with the checkerboard to match the seats but that might be too much. Any other thoughts? It needs to remain practical, usable and comfortable as it'll be pressed into use as a grand tourer later in the year when we go on hols to France. Ta Rich
