Having been told I lack vision, I pondered what cars I'd wanted to create. No pics (yet) I'm afraid - I'll modify this post when I find appropriate ones. 1: Toyota Sera, 2 seats, 1UZ mid-mounted V8, G5 kit or stock appearance. Self explanatory this - I love Seras, but the doors are a bit out of place with the rest of the car. I wanted to get a 1UZ, ditch the rear seats, and basically mid-mount it as per Clio V6s. Glass hatch remains, with the engine exposed, and a glass partition window to keep noise bearable in the cabin. Front end gets inboard shocks, big radiator & oil coolers, but the idea is to keep it as stock looking as possible. A similar concept has been done in that there's a supercar using the Sera's body and doors, but the tail is spaceframe and unique. 2: Mantas - Rotary, V6 and straight six. I've had the latter, but didn't do it myself. Also the Ventora - I wanted that to be something very specific. Lowered, chromed Azev A (I liked them. It was the '90s. I had a friend with a Porsche Mint Green wide-arched Astra Mk 2 GTE, taste was wholly optional), purple metalflake, white vinyl roof, purple and white leather seats (Recaro up front, retrimmed Venny buckets at the back), grille properly polished, 3.3 appropriately dressed up, engine bay cleaned, underbody and under arches properly protected, suitably loud noises... It ended up scrapped though - the garage I'd needed to get to do the welding took all the NOS bits I had (including chassis rails!) but trashed the car, ultimately scrapping it. 3: The ultimate T-car. Kadett C Coupé body, with Aero's targa panel, Chevette nose, HSR arches, Piazza HBL Turbo running gear, Kadett dash, digital instruments. I'd still like to try doing such a thing one day, though I suspect the targa roof would be a step too far. 4: 2 door BX Cabriolet. See also 2 door XM Cabriolet. I did start planning a Chevette Cabrio around one of my 2 door ones, but the body was rotten. 5: Carbon fibre and corrugated plastic spaceframe body on a Dyane 6 chassis. The idea being to build a suitable bulkhead from the Dyane's body and floorban, then use some carbon fibre tubes from an exhibition system I had at the time to make an outline car, with the panels made of that honeycomb plastic envelope stiffener material. The body would have looked a lot like a Mehari/Pony/FAF, but weighed next to nothing. Oh, and been totally lethal, of course. Abandoned due to college and issues with the Dyane's chassis having been welded to the body's floor, so when I lifted the body, it ripped a chunk out of the chassis. 6: Citroën suspended ideas - some of which other people made long after I'd been sketching ideas: ![](http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/07/gibbs-aquada-630.jpg) Mine wasn't so overly sporty. The other idea I had, has been a reality in the form of a T4 pickup - I used to work with imagesetters, they were heavy - so I tried to figure out a way of sliding the entire rear floor out of a BX estate, having lowered it. Not very cool, but would have been really useful!

Mine has always been an Alfa Sud Sprint with permanent 4 running gear from an Alfa 33, a tuned (possibly forced induction) 2.0 litre engine from a 147, suitably lowered and stiffened. Thing is I already have a 2 door 70's coupe and when it comes time to sell and replace it I don't want to replace it with another 2 door 70's coupe ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) My other dream build is to take a 60's or 70's cruiser and upgrade everything to modern standards.. take a Volvo 164 for example and then add air con, air ride, super noise reduction (floor, arch liners, boot, seals, roof etc.), lazy diesel engine, leather, electric everything, remote locking, remote heated seats, that magic Audi windscreen that seems to clear of frost in seconds, soft self close doors like the big Mercs have, automatic wipers etc. etc. the whole shebang. That would be the post Sunny project I think.

I think those Jags would end up collapsing into some sort of event horizon of being pimpin', with the XJ-S already suitably "pimp" style to start off with. It's like trying to pimp a 1970s Cadillac - unless you can fit chandeliers and hydraulics, the car's already beaten you to the punch before you start.
As such the extreme of the white isn't just good, it's actually required.

That would be the post Sunny project I think. I like your style. I had a Sprint, and I'm not a huge fan of the 'suds - purely for driving position - but the 33 and other AWD models (I've got a thing for '80s AWD cars; had a 405 GLx4 and a BX4x4 as well as XR4x4s), and the Sprint's shell - yeah, liking that. The modernising idea I always want to prove a point about economy with. Citroën BX with the 1.6 HDi DPFS that my (gf's, now ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) ) C3 uses, super-tall 5th and 6th gearing, maybe even lighter carbon fibre panels (though a BX body-in-white is only a couple of hundred Kg as it is). Modern cars=too bloody heavy and geared towards passive safety. I reckon the BX as I envisage it would deliver 100mpg on the motorway, whilst seating 5, and carrying luggage, in comfort that people used to modern cars just wouldn't even think possible. Though I really, really liked that Jaguar XJ with a Cresta on top of it. And the same people's HB Viva/Astra/Escort Cabriolet hybrid.

I've always wanted a 131 abarth. It would need to have a mid mounted ferrari v8.
I also need to finish the Multipla. Massive diesel lump, airride, brown leather retrim etc etc.
Only just realised I'm a Fiat guy after writing this post. oh noes.
There are many others but they are mostly fiat, lancia, alfa, detomaso. Oh dear, I think it's terminal.

I have a naughty idea of building a Gasser style Herald/Vitesse that just won't go away. I also have an old idea of building a Beetle bodied open front hotrod using a Gardner 180 diesel engine. I first drew that up at school about 25 years ago but I've blatently been beaten to that idea now ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

To make some form of 4 door Austin A35 van with a 3.0 litre Twin turbo diesel engine. ![](http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5769/a354doormix.jpg) This would go in the same garage as my Turbo'ed café racer made in a similar way as the Triton Café Racer but instead of an old Triumph engine and Norton frame I'd use the engine from the new Speed Triple, 133bhp from a 1050cc engine, turbocharge this, put it in the new Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer frame and suitably upgrade both so its powerful fast, and can cope with all the power. Imagine this with around 250bhp rather than 80bhp. ![](http://www.egelnickandwebb.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Commando-961-Cafe-Racer-Silver-1280x1024.jpg) And then to get my current A35 2 door saloon so its a combination of these two pictures: ![](http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/1438/racing17.jpg) Low down and Weller wheels like in this picture. Oil cooler, chopped grill. But with styling more like this which I plan to be doing: ![](http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/3989/planid.jpg) And I want everything in the British Racing Green Metallic in the picture below. ![](http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/4369/168hx.jpg)

Slightly ported, single turbo Mazda 20B engined Dolomite. Use an RX7 gearbox, LSD from a Capri as early live axle RX7 ones are a pain to find, side exit exhaust, Avo coilovers, Equip 03s (14x7.5 and 14x6.5), OMP Donnington seats, NRG QR boss, suede Nardi, Sprintparts Australia spoilers and arches, and a carbon bonnet and bootlid to finish. Paint it purple with a rising sun on the roof. Enjoy burning up pretty much everything on the road.
Problem being it'd cost in the region of £5-6k

They can almost all be covered by 'Interesting modern engine and/or running gear into 70's coupe or British low volume GRP retro'. Hence the Scimega. X30XE or AJV6 into Esprit / Gilbern / AC 3000ME are along the same lines.
The other idea I've been fighting with for a few years is how to make a daily driver Renault Trafic/Merc Vito exterior contain a Relay/Ducato interior-sized camper. I haven't accepted defeat yet, but physics is definitely challenging me.

20B dolly, nice!
Reminds me of the other one I'd wanted to make in the '90s, but really couldn't - 20B+Citroën CX. The CX was always supposed to have a triple rotor.

Mines quite boring. Pre facelift MKI Capri with Sierra Cosworth lump. Otherwise standard looking both inside and out down to the Rostyle wheels (maybe widened ;D )

Always wanted to do an XR4x4 with a V8 ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) RWD V8 Sierras have been done (even one from the factory) but there are a couple of major technical issues with doing engine swaps and keeping the 4x4 - one of the front drive shafts goes through the sump for a start. The lack of skills stopped me getting much beyond idly eyeing up potential donors a few years ago, major cash shortages are stopping me now ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) It would have to a MK1 XR4x4 (or possibly a MK1 4x4 Ghia Estate) wearing the RS bodykit, in black

Always fancied an early Nova SR with 2litre 16v Twin cam and the 4x4 undercrackers from a Calibra 4x4. Keep it as standard looking as possible though.

Current one is a Dimma 205 with MR2 mid mounted kinda like a real T16, pipe dream would be to try get the Celica AWD system to mate with MR2/205 set up.
After seeing the 3S-GTE engined Yaris, I had grand ideas, and as it happens I own a Dimma 205 and an MR2 just don't have knowledge/money/guts to mate them as one.
