I wasnt looking for a car, and if I did buy one it was going to be another 80 TDI avant. But you know when you start cruising the web ads just for the crack.. And you see somthing that fits- you always wanted one, right price right car ect.. Resulting in a day off work, a grin you can't control and a long but pleasant road trip down south ( new forest). Well I once had a 90 coupe quattro and loved it, but back then it was easy to find another. 10 yrs passed and scrap scheme, time ect and there doesn't seem to be many left. Plenty coupes even a few s2s but I want a 90 B3, not a B4. B3= cool wood, velour seats, sexy front end and a 5 pot. Front drive prefered, becuse this will stop me wanting to fit an S2 engine, (i just want a car not project - 944 is for that.) So what I found was a very clean solid black 90 coupe 10v non quattro with a full stainless, bilsteins, dark velour and 18" khans (not for long!) I like this car a lot, I just want to go out in it all the time and I havent had that feeling for years! So far its just had a polish, orange indicators and an audi sport steering wheel. Plans are a drop and some gold spoke BBS. I want it in decent factory order and well serviced. img703.imageshack.us/img703/5216/collection003q.jpg [/img] Its got a cold running prob to sort first, then the fun.

Looks fantastic and the best colour too. I've had a few 80 Coupe's, but only one B3 5 pot and it was in black, I miss that car so much! Your plans are spot on IMHO. al.

Thanks, it is a nice thing to own and cheap too (off the "scene" radar) the insurance is £105 car was £580. It goes well, it feels faster than my V6 which is rated at 13hp more, not sure if its got a shorter final drive or just a more fun power delivery. I have changed all the dash bulbs, changed the bonnet cable as it was faulty and removed lot of the non factory mods (like stickers) added by previous owners.
Forgot to say in my 1st post, the seller commented that the car was lowered when he got it but he had it raised .....nooooooooooooooo! well its going straight back down again! MPG is good too, it must be doing 30+
Only drawback is the sound of the engine. Its making me wish I had put an audi S2 engine in my 944 instead of the 4 pot turbo engine

I had an early D plate B3 saloon in 2.2 10v fwd flavour and it was lovely.
"Only" 136 horses - but they are strong, willing horses and sing a nice tune. Was good on juice too.
My favourite daily ever - fond memories......

That is beautiful and as always can't wait to see what happens here as you really do have something of a knack for these things! I suggest for wheels Azev A's I know you already have them on a black coupe but they would be perfect here.

You know, I think the current wheels look better than the gold BBS you're planning to fit and lowered a bit, it'll be lovely. But then, comfort is going to be compromised somewhat with such skinny tyres I guess.

Can't wait to watch the progress on this. That front number plate needs centralising!

I do go on classic audi, i don't post much though.
For this year the cars title was just coupe 2.3 E, no 80 or 90 I only call it a 90 in relation to its 5 pot.

I think that looks a lovely example, personally I wouldn't change a thing cosmetically. You're right they are a lovely cruiser and sound superb.
