Did anyone watch it?
The 6WD was fantastic, although I was rooting for the rail to win... shame that weld broke.
Both fantastic machines though, great start to this series.

Yeah, great start to the series, I missed the beginning of the programme tho', what engines were they using?
I love spotting the classics in the yard, you normally see a couple of Mk2 Escorts, a few Landies and the ocassional Mini.

I missed that, but I've seen a load of the older ones. Too bad it's such a set-up, I mean exactly what they need always seems to turn up, now I've very rarely stepped into a scrappie and got the exact thing I needed in no time at all without looking for ages (or knowing the guy that runs the local place, who keeps Imp bits aside for me! )

The 6x6 ran a 2.8 out of a nissan patrol. The lightweight number went for a Honda 1600 plus autobox from an early 80's accord. Retro-rides team in the next series, anyone?? Could be a laugh!

Yeah, love the show but the scrapyard is so clearly rigged - the amount of good stuff in there is unbelievable!

I've spotted an Estelle before, they've used an Estelle, and I'm sure they have an Estelle bonnet on the wall of bonnets!

they've stated before that certain parts are 'seeded' into the yard, but who cares? I enjoy watching the build-up whether that have to source the bits themselves or they are given NOS parts.

the expert for each team have to submit a design to the show, as to what they will build. And they also tell them show what parts they require. I read about in a Land Rover mag a couple of years ago. When the teams built a vehicle to climb a muddy hill. Matt Lee was an expert, and had instructed the scavengers to find a smallish engine with an auto gearbox... they came back and said there isnt one.. he said... oh yes there is one out there

Would be kind of pointless if the needed parts couldn't be found, wouldn't it?

You've got a point, I suppose they've got to make sure there's enough to go round etc, I just thought that it would be more like what happens in a real scrapyard if they had to make do with non exact parts, and adapt realistic stuff to suit, instead of having Land Rovers etc drop in their laps when they ask for them.

Glad it's back on! I was told that the scrappie they use is a real one - you can go there and buy stuff. I don't know where in the UK it is though! If I had the kind of luck that the teams seem to have when looking for parts I'd be well happy . Like SkoCan says though it'd be a bit wibblepoo if neither team had a completed machine at the end of it though! An R-R Scrapheap Challenge team would be an excellent idea! ;D

Knowing this place we'd come up with some kind of retro J car/Skoda hybrid with a huge V8 and pimpin' hydraulics... And that would just be our transport to the show! ;D

Id go on that programme given the chance.....might get a bit annoyed though, cuz people often have very stupid ideas on em...especially the 'eccentric' experts!!!

The last series of scrapheap challenge was filmed at my local scrappie - been there loads of times. I've been down there since the series has finished and there's still loads of the projects they built from the show in the yard!
Is the new series filmed in the same place?

You'd have thought they'd have found something more interesting to do with the projects after the show!!
What was that similar programme they did last year where the teams built their machines at home in a few weeks? The programme was hosted by Henry Rollins (god!). Anyway, alot of the stuff from that was on display at Beauliea last time I went.
