As some of you know I like MGB GT's so I suppose it's only a matter of time before I start liking TR7's (fhc, not to interested in cabro version ...roof helps keep a car together when it gets old and rusty ;D). I know all 70'S Leyland Cars are 'Bodg-it and Codg-it' cars and full of faults etc. but would any of you guys be able to point me in which 'era' of production run is best and of course which areas rot bad (all of it?). My Father many moons ago mentioned something about Leyland having to weld them up on the rear end when new with Tony Pond (I think) competing in the RAC Rally !!! Thanks

^ Hey thanks for that! I just love the 'wedge shape' and the massive 'big bumpers' ...like my MGB Rubber bumpers

="The TR7 electrics were put together by some mad man who was probably a plumber by trade. Fickle is the by-word here and many a TR7 owner has been seen to be barking at the moon in the early hours after a night spent chasing some gremlin through the miriad of cables." CORRECT! as per any Leyland Car!

love em! Ugly buggers, and they annoy the cloth cap and pipe TR4/5/6 brigade no end so that's an obviousl plus!

I don't know if I like them...
Possibly due to never seeing one in the flesh that wasn't rolling on Minilites and being driven by someone who alphabetises their record collection.

Majorly can't dig them I'm afraid!
'Gun Turret stuck on a wedge of cheese'.... The convertibles look better balanced. And why are they almost always owned / driven by REALLY REALLY ODD people?

Normally you can wack car name into Google Image and in the first few pages there'll be something cool. Page 14! till I found this

Even then it doesn't look 'right'
I think that a drawback of the uberwedge styling is that there doesn't seem to be a stance that suits it :/

Like all BL cars, they look best in "Toothpaste" competition livery IMHO

This is the only one (barring some of the top-flight Grinnals and TR8's) that I've liked. Rear's not quite there, mind. I don't like some of the detailing and sometimes I think "No, I don't actually like it - it's too much" but it always catches my eye and I do think "Yea....I'll go with that". Maybe a bit too much plastic for me to own it tho

Not a fan of that blue one, in fact I am going to call ‘Barry’ on it – placca body kit, excess spangly badges, gay number plates etc. The styling of the soft-top one is nice but I can never get mega enthusiastic about them. I maybe could love a Rover 820-powered convertible one though. I LOVE those ones which have the ‘Rimming Brothers’ TR40 kit, they are class. SOLID GOLD QUALITY
