I should be getting the first of the 2 914 shells home tomorrow, and I was discussing colours with Fi the other night. White was my favourite because of the class winning Le Mans 'number 40' car that is in the Steve McQueen film, but a close second was Orange as it seems to have been common at the time on the GT (race prepped) versions. Fi said "yeah, but if you paint it orange you'll be tempted to put Jägermeister on the side" to which I laughed Then today I found this ;D

autohausdolby in da house: was my favourite because of the class winning Le Mans 'number 40' car that is in the Steve McQueen film
I would say white is a great colour on a 914-6 with the wide fenders (like the orange car in the pic) if that's what you'r building or my favorite, silver, the best ever colour on a Porsche.....
DP says: Once driven a 914-6 at Sonoma County Raceway, what a challenge.......

After much thought, I reckon you should go with the white, and just pick another colour for the bug. ;D

Ooooo, was it difficult to drive? Should make life interesting Yes, the car is having the wide "M471" arches - the donor 914-6 that is part of the project had them at least since the 80s. If I could actually remember to ring the bloke who's giving me the '6 I could go and get it's history off him so I can start researching the chassis number. It'll be trouser apocalypse time if the arches were originally fitted at the factory (although that is obviously too much to hope for!)
