it was weird wasn't it. I did almost physically cringe with embarresment for the presenters being trapped inside such derivative garbage. OK so the new guys wer ejust cack but VBH can do better surely and poor old tiff. c'mon take pity on the guy and let him back on TG. I'm sure he'd show the stig a thing or too about test driving cars! (well maybe!)
How on earth did they get away with running the car v plane stunt as a direct rip from TG, and the car v radio control car - well vroom vroom did that last week and you REALLY don't want to be aspiring to being that show.

I was a bit stunned when they crushed the Golf.
Doing it with caravans is fine... but the Merc and the golf...

Fifth Gear is such dire programming........I can't imagine how the VT crew actually let any of those sequences go out, they're all so shoddy.
I can't even imagine how someone even comes up with the directorial for such lame stuff....Oh god, it does make me weep. We could do so much better.

ive watched two 5th gear episodes. one when they drowned the benz, and then this weeks.
utter sh*te.
I got the impression they were pushing Tiff out the door. Build him up as some superstar race driver while giving him less air time so that next series .... oh sorry, we've got the stig clone to fill ya boots

I havent watched it in yonks I'm glad to see its as bad as I remembered.
We could make a top car show but I bet we'd be the only people watching. TV is mainly aimed at couch-potatoes.
"Why don't you just switch of your television set and go do something less boring instead..."

Even as a child I was struck by the irony of a TV show telling you to switch off the TV and go do something else. I remember there was a blonde lass on there I had the hots for. She was probably about 12 and i was about 9. I also think that show was the first time that there had been a deliberate attempt to bring regional accents onto telly.

You bet we could! It would be ACE! ... "In this weeks episode we have a short history on the AMC Gremlin and a buyers guide on the Datsun 120Y range" ... "and next week we show you how to replace sills, on our Morris Marina TC project car..."

Glad other people saw it and commented. what a disgrace!
I have already mentioned that they ripped my ideas when i 'applied for a job' a few years back but the plane vs car was a direct TG rip off wasn't it. as for crushing a reasonable looking Golf whats the fugging point. cringe o rama, i watched out of interest and cos the IT situation at home is not in a good way.
the only thing i liked was the robot Golf, ruined only by their unfair testing (weight) and that annoying fugger Jon Bent ley!!!2!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

He probably hasn't got them because he likes old cars, he's got them to make a designers' statement. Look at me. One of the reason's I left design was because I couldn't tolerate people like him.
