Been clearing up in the garage tonight and I was looking at the compressor. This is mounted on nice anti-vibration feet. Certainly keeps it quiet. Well, quiet compared to steel feet vibrating on a concrete floor (and in a concrete garage at the old place). Anyway, I digress...
The compressor appears nicely level with the floor. However, the compressor looks a little off when compared to the shelf above it. Now I put that shelf up with a spirit level...
I think you can see where this is going.
So I got the spirit level out and the compressor is lying back about 2 or 3 degrees. Not much, but the floor obviously rises slightly there... and its laying back away from the drain tap.
so I adjust the feet so that the compressor is level on the bubble shows it being slightly down a degree or two at the tap end.
Then I drained it down again.
I was amazed. I got about two pints of what I can only describe as bilge which was the colour of a very runny korma sauce. And it stank.
Ask I drained down (under mild pressure) the mositure trap gurgled and coughed and spat about 100 - 150 ml of water out as well.
No wonder I've been having "issues" with my spraying...
I'm just amazed its not being doing a hose pipe. The moisture traps never going to cope with that kind of liquid behind it.
Shame I never checked that before I sprayed the car, but hey.

Well at least you know now, good sleuthing mate. Its funny i was doing a small bit of spraying recently and i noticed that when the thinners evaporated out of the paint, it got cold enough for water to condensate on the surface! Ruining the finish too! So i rubbed it down, sprayed again and brought it inside while the thinners evaporated, and this solved the problem. I never expected the evaporative cooling to be a problem, but hey ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) J

anything and everything can be a problem with paint! (And come 2007 even more so).
Not really started refitting stuff yet, been cleaning the garage and stuff as everything is really dusty. Thats the really big PITA with paint & prep is the dust.

Crikey, just as well you mentioned this I didn't empty mine last time and I remember it had about a pint of white slimy stinky crapola in it.

No money for more paint now unfortunately. I'll probably run it as is over winter (hey, its dark...) and look at doing something with it in the spring.
