dreaming that I do?
I like to think of myself as a competent chap but i sometimes think I let myself in for stuff. Mrs Autohausdolby is living in Le Mans at the moment, and that combined with repeated viewing of the film has left me with a severe Porsche hankering.
It went:
1. Oooo, I like 917s, I wonder if anyone makes a kit? 2. Find kit manufacturer on interweb, send hapless e-mail. 3. Find out kit is wibblepoo quality and costs 51.5 grand 4. Think, hmmmmm, what else could I do that's similar but cheaper? 5. Remembers about seeing a raced but rusty and bare 914 shell in a basement whilst wagging school 10 years ago. 6. Go to building that encompasses said basement, get name of bloke that owns Porsche, arrange to go and see him later in the day. 7. Look up entry requirements for Le Mans Classic in 2008. 8. Find company selling the required fibreglass to build the shell into the 914 GT version required for homologation. 9. Find out that full kit is about 600 dollars and realise that is mucho cheap
Is it good to dream, even if you don't think you are going to achieve it?
I imagine it's people like me that give the VZi classified the terrible reputation for "will you take xx" for it mate? ;D ;D ;D

Yeah I always have the problem. As long as you have a couple of realistic dreams in there, and achieve at least a couple it's a healthy thing. If all you do is sit around and dream thinking they will magically happen then no it's not good.
I have noticed ever since RR has corrupted me I now look at nice cars and think "hmmm I would love the brakes from that" or "that engine would look purdy in X's bay"..."that gearbox would feel nice" and so on.

I'm confused - have you just landed yourself a 914 or are you recounting a dream? :/

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Haha! That's more like it. I just needed some help through a period of doubt ;D It all depends on whether the bloke takes a liking to me and wants to pov off his shagged out old shell. Legend has it that it's an identity doner for another car that he still races, which could raise problems with the Feds at the FIA and homoing the car properly.

LOLZERS - I'll be lucky if it comes with a bonnet - to give you an idea of the condition, it's on it's side next to what looks like a can-am shell of some description and an old 6-series. If the guy will let me I'll take a photo. It is not in good condition, but then again this was my bug before I started on it: Because of what I'd do to it all I actually need is the base unit minus bolt ons. They'd all be going in the bin anyway

I'm terrible for this. I radiaclly under estimate how long anything will take. I radically over estimate how much time I can devote to things.
